***ATTENTION TEXT-ONLY HG SUBSCRIBERS (this means YOU!): Since only
a tiny fraction of our audience receives our emails in text-only form, and the
emails look so much better designed in HTML, we have decided to stop
sending out the text-only versions of Hungry Girl newsletters. This change
will happen in the very near future. Keep an eye out for the HTML versions in
your inbox... coming soon!***

This is the text version of Hungry Girl.

Hungry Girl Today: 9.28.09

Spotted on Shelves...

New & Improved! Hershey's Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup - The old SF
chocolate syrup was only OK, so our buddies over at Hershey's took a step
back, reconfigured the stuff, and rebuilt it -- better... stronger... faster...
MORE chocolatey! It's WAY better! A 2-tbsp. serving has just 15 calories, 0g
fat, 5g carbs, <1g fiber, and <1g protein (POINTS® value 0*). Sweet!

Kashi Heart to Heart Warm Cinnamon Oat Cereal - Don't let the name fool
you. This is actually a COLD cereal, flavored with cinnamon & spices that
pack some... warmth! In addition to being delicious, this AM treat is also
loaded with antioxidants, including green tea, white tea, and grape seed
extracts. A 3/4-cup serving has 110 calories, 1.5g fat, 24g carbs, 5g fiber,
and 4g protein (POINTS® value 2*). PLUS, it's low in sodium and pretty
much all-around AMAZING.

Yo-Plus Light Yogurt - Yoplait's fancy digestion-balancing yogurt, Yo-Plus, is
now available in three calorie-slashed, fiber-packed flavors -- Light Key Lime
Pie, Light Strawberry Banana, and Light Honey Vanilla. They're all
DELICIOUS, but we're especially impressed with the Honey Vanilla. Each 4-
oz. container has 70 fat-free calories, 15g carbs, 3g fiber, and 4g protein
(POINTS® value 1*). Yay, Yoplait!

Bitty Bites...

Label Lies -- Worse Than We Thought!
If someone told you that the nutritional stats on one out of every four labels
tested were found to be WRONG, you'd probably FREAK. Well according to
this article, it's true. Not only do food companies get away with inaccurate
labeling, but the products most likely to be mislabeled are those targeted at
people with certain dietary concerns (like sodium-watchers and carb-
counters). Check out the article (featuring input from HG herself), and then
tell us what YOU think about it on our Facebook page. And for advice on how
to prevent lying labels from derailing your diet, click HERE.

Serving Size 101 and a BRAND-SPANKIN'-NEW HG Video!!!
How CRAZY are restaurant portion sizes?! Um, VERY. Here are a couple of
FABULOUS resources to help you battle super-sized servings. First, this
slideshow is packed with tips on how to spot and serve the reasonable
portions of many common foods. For example, a 3-oz. serving of meat is
about the size of a deck of cards, a single serving of cooked pasta should be
half the size of a baseball, and if you want rice, have about as much as
would be contained in a cupcake wrapper. Next, click HERE to check out this
never-before-seen HG video about the shocking truth surrounding the
serving size of a super-familiar breakfast food. Then go out into the world,
armed with your newfound knowledge, and CHEW THINGS!

Stuff You Didn't Know You Needed...

The Lunchbox by OOTS! - This multi-containered thing has been called "the
Cadillac of lunchboxes," and for good reason. We recently got our hands on
one, and it ROCKS. That strap on the top is more than just a handle -- it's
also a water-bottle holder. The 'Box includes a whole bunch of little bento-
esque containers (which fit perfectly inside) that can hold tons of different
food items. COOL! This super-deluxe item isn't exactly cheap, so our friends
at delight.com are hooking you up with free shipping on ALL orders over $45
with coupon code: HG09. (That's 09 as in 2009, and be sure to cap the HG.
Offer expires 10/2.)

Condiment Gun - Warning: The following product may inspire extremely
messy food fights. Proceed with caution. Alright, now that THAT's out of the
way, HOW FUN IS THIS?! Load up your "gun" with ketchup or mustard (or
any other sauce you want to shoot) and fire away. Those hot dogs and
hamburgers won't know what hit 'em! You may want to keep your new toy
away from children, though... and immature friends.

Write-On Glassware - As crazed multi-taskers, we love to make lists and
keep 'em handy. If you're sick of burning through Post-it Notes like they're
going out of style, maybe this mug or tumbler is right for you. And at the end
of the day, just erase your old to-do list, and you're ready for another day of
coffee-fueled productivity. Right on, write-on glassware!

The Buzz...

Hey, sneakypants! If you're a fan of red velvet (the flavor, not the fabric),
head over to a local Weight Watchers meeting location and grab a box of the
company's little-known Red Velvet Mini Bars, with a POINTS® value of 1 per
bar. They're GOOD. Many locations let you pop in to buy stuff even if you're
not a member. You could also scope the web for some. RED VELVET...
Mmmmmmm! Grab a few boxes before they're gone. (You know how these
flavors come and go!) ***Want to know all about food recalls and food
safety in general? FoodSafety.gov is a great online resource, with tons of info
provided by government agencies. Totally worth checking out, so click!
***Sugar-free preserves with FIBER? It's true! Polaner has come out with an
entire line of fruit-flavored sugar-free spreads that are jammed (get it?!) with
fiber -- 3 grams per tablespoon! More on that soon. ***Oooh, limited-
edition sandwich alert! Subway is serving up a brand-new Low-Fat Buffalo
Chicken sub. With sauce-glazed chicken and a new light ranch dressing, a six-
inch sub has 370 calories and 7g fat (POINTS® value 7*), but you can shave
off around 200 calories by getting it salad-style over lettuce. It'll only be
around 'til the middle of next month, so order up! ***Need some help
understanding sweeteners, from the artificial to naturally derived? Here's a
good article that breaks it all down for you. Nicely done! That's all we've got.
HG out!
