ASK HUNGRY GIRL

Hi, Hungry Girl!

I tried your Grab 'n Go Breakfast Cookies -- they are great! My question is
about the Fiber One cereal that gets ground up into crumbs and mixed into
the batter. The recipe calls for 1/4 cup Fiber One. Should I be measuring out
that 1/4 cup before I put the cereal in the blender, or after it's been ground
into crumbs? I just want to make sure. Thank you!!!

Questioning Cookies

Dear Questioning Cookies,

Thanks for emailing! Glad you like those cookies. I'm a big fan of them, too!
For that recipe, you need to measure 1/4 cup of the cereal itself FIRST, and
THEN blend it into crumbs. That's typically how it works with our recipes that
involve blending up F1 cereal. The ingredients list tells you how much of the
whole cereal to start with... and then you blend! It's like that because I want
HG recipes to be as user-friendly as possible -- and I think it's much easier if
you know how much of the actual cereal you'll need as opposed to how much
of the ground cereal crumbs you'll need. But here's a little trick... If you want
to make those cookies (or any of our recipes that use F1 crumbs) often, you
can blend up a whole bunch of the cereal at once, and then store the crumbs
in an airtight container. When you're ready to make your recipe, just
measure out HALF the amount of cereal called for -- so if the recipe calls for
1/4 cup cereal, use 2 tbsp. crumbs. Get it? GOOD! Thanks for checking in!

Dear HG,

I recently discovered a DELICIOUS frozen dinner: Stouffer's Green Pepper
Steak. The nutrition label says that it only has 240 calories for the whole
package, but I looked it up online and found calorie counts ranging from 240
to 330 calories! Help me, HG! Who am I supposed to believe here?

Pepper Steak Perplexed

Dear Perplexed,

Glad you found something new to eat that you love! Sometimes you'll find
conflicting nutritional info out there, which is definitely annoying. Your best
bet is to always assume that the actual package has the most current and
correct nutritional info. (This is what the food companies tell me, anyway!) I
checked the official Stouffer's site, and it does say the Green Pepper Steak
has 240 calories, just like your box says -- so that's good news! When you
look up nutritional stats online, always make sure to check the official
company website. You can also try calling the phone number on the package
or on the website (typically in the "Contact Us" section) -- the customer
service people are usually pretty helpful. Happy chewing!!!
