***ATTENTION TEXT-ONLY HG SUBSCRIBERS (this means YOU!): Since only

a tiny fraction of our audience receives our emails in text-only form, and the

emails look so much better designed in HTML, we have decided to stop

sending out the text-only versions of Hungry Girl newsletters. This change

will happen in the very near future. Keep an eye out for the HTML versions in

Hungry Girl Today: 10.29.09

You don't need to be nine to have some Halloween fun, people. Whip up

these no-guilt goodies for yourself (or the little ones!).

Mr. Puffy Pumpkinhead Freezy-Cool Whoopie Pie

PER SERVING (entire recipe, 1 "whoopie pie"): 168 calories, 2g fat, 356mg

sodium, 31.5g carbs, 7g fiber, 14g sugars, 8g protein -- POINTS® value 3*

Ingredients:

1 VitaTop (Deep Chocolate, Double Chocolate Dream, or Triple Chocolate

Chunk), frozen

3 tbsp. Cool Whip Free, thawed

2 tbsp. fat-free cream cheese, room temperature

2 tbsp. canned pure pumpkin

1/4 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 no-calorie sweetener packet (like Splenda)

Directions:

Carefully slice VitaTop in half lengthwise, so that you are left with 2 thin

round Vita "slices." Set aside.

In a small bowl, combine all other ingredients. Stir until smooth. Spoon

mixture into a small sealable plastic bag, and squeeze it down toward a

bottom corner of the bag. Snip a tiny bit of that corner off with scissors, so

that you have a makeshift piping bag for distributing the filling.

Lay the bottom slice of your Vita flat, with the cut side down. The exposed

side will be the "face" of Mr. Puffy -- it is the smoothest, most beautiful

surface to work on. Carefully draw a jack-o-lantern face on it with the

pumpkin mixture: 2 solid triangles for eyes and a squiggly mouth. (See

photo!) Set aside.

Lay the top slice of the Vita flat, with the cut side up. Squeeze ALL of the

remaining pumpkin mixture (there will be A LOT!) evenly onto the exposed

side. Gently place the other Vita slice -- with the "face" up -- on top, creating

a sandwich with a pumpkin-mixture filling.

Freeze until solid, about 1 hour. Enjoy!

BREAKING "CHEWS"... A NEW HG VIDEO!

Did you miss our kooky Halloween video when it debuted this past Monday?

Click here NOW to check it out!!! Then make the recipes below (as seen and

chewed in the video!)...

Halloweenie Spaghetti Spiders

PER SERVING (entire recipe, 6 "spiders"): 65 calories, 1g fat, 520mg sodium,

8g carbs, 0.5g fiber, 0g sugars, 7g protein -- POINTS® value 1*

Kids will gobble up these wiggly food items in a heartbeat... and so will fun-

loving grown-ups!

Ingredients:

1 Hebrew National 97% Fat Free Beef Frank (or another hot dog with about

40 calories and less than 2g fat)

12 dry whole-wheat-blend spaghetti strands (like the kind by Ronzoni)

Optional dips: ketchup, mustard, low-fat marinara sauce

Directions:

Cut hot dog evenly into 6 coin-shaped pieces. Set aside.

Carefully break the spaghetti strands in half, leaving you with 24 "sticks" that

are uniform in length.

One at a time, poke 4 spaghetti sticks through a round side of 1 hot dog

piece until they come out the other side. (Adjust the sticks so there are equal

amounts on either end of the hot dog piece.) Repeat entire process 5 times,

so that you are left with 6 hot dog pieces with 4 sticks through each.

Bring a pot of water to a boil on the stove. Once boiling, carefully add

spaghetti-dog pieces. Reduce heat to medium and cook for 7 - 8 minutes,

until spaghetti has softened to desired texture.

Serve with ketchup and/or mustard or some low-fat marinara sauce. Enjoy!

Candy Corn Custard Parfait

PER SERVING (entire parfait): 155 calories, 1g fat, 234mg sodium, 34.5g

carbs, 0.5g fiber, 15g sugars, 1.5g protein -- POINTS® value 3*

While the kids are chomping on Halloween candy, celebrate with this creamy

and frighteningly good holiday concoction. Bwahahahahahahaha! (That's our

scary laughter. Like it?)

Ingredients:

1 Jell-O Sugar Free Vanilla Pudding Snack

2 drops yellow food coloring

1/3 cup mandarin orange segments in juice, drained

1/4 cup Cool Whip Free, thawed

5 pieces candy corn

Directions:

In a small bowl or parfait glass, combine pudding with food coloring and mix

until uniform in color.

Top evenly first with orange segments and then with Cool Whip.

Arrange candy corn prettily on top of the Cool Whip (or haphazardly -- it's

your parfait), and then dive in!
