***ATTENTION TEXT-ONLY HG SUBSCRIBERS (this means YOU!): Since only
a tiny fraction of our audience receives our emails in text-only form, and the
emails look so much better designed in HTML, we have decided to stop
sending out the text-only versions of Hungry Girl newsletters. This change
will happen in the very near future. Keep an eye out for the HTML versions in
your inbox... coming soon!***

This is the text version of Hungry Girl.

Spotted on Shelves...

Yumnuts Naturals Slow Dry-Roasted Cashews - We're OBSESSED with these
amazingly delicious, no-oil-added cashews, and we have a feeling you will
be, too. They come in Chocolate, Spicy Cajun, Sea Salt, Toasted Coconut,
Chili Lime, and Honey! A 1/4-cup serving has 160 - 170 calories, 11 - 13g
fat, 7 - 12g carbs, 1 - 3g fiber, and 4 - 6g protein (POINTS® value 4*).
Portion them out before you chew. Find these at select Whole Foods locations
and supermarkets, or order 'em online at Amazon. And Yumnuts? Consider
this our OFFICIAL plea for single-serving packs.

Gourmè Mist - Not only does this company make eco-friendly "misters" full of
fancy oil, but it ALSO has spritzable balsamic vinegar AND travel-size
containers! After having plenty of "oops, my bottle of vinegar slipped and
drowned my salad" moments, we're very thankful. A 1-second spray of the
fancy-pants vinegar -- which comes in fruity flavors like balsamic with
pomegranate -- has just 1 calorie. The cold-pressed, imported oil -- choose
canola or extra-virgin olive -- has 4 calories and <1g fat per 1-second spray.
SO COOL! These are popping up on shelves nationwide (click here for stores)
and can also be bought online.

Quaker Chewy Fright Night Chocolate Chip with Candy Pieces Mini Granola
Bars - "Obesity epidemic" or not, no kid wants to see a box of raisins or an
apple in their plastic jack-o'-lantern this Halloween. However, Quaker has
found a middle ground, packaging little granola bars with candy pieces inside
them for trick-or-treaters! So if you're not into the idea of plopping chocolate
bars into the kiddies' feed bags, hand out these babies instead. Definitely a
better alternative. And WAY better than getting your house egged. Each mini
bar has 60 calories, 2g fat, 10.3g carbs, 0.67g fiber, and 0.67g protein
(POINTS® value 1*).

Bitty Bites...

Please Slash the Salt!
People are becoming a little more careful about their salt intake these days,
and processed foods can be a HUGE source of sodium. That's why it's GREAT
NEWS that ConAgra Foods -- parent co. to brands like Hebrew National,
Hunt's, and Chef Boyardee -- recently announced plans to reduce the sodium
content in its products by TWENTY percent over the next five years! Up to
twenty ConAgra brands will be affected, and the company plans to tweak its
manufacturing techniques as needed, to make sure the foods are still full of
flavor. We're excited to see food companies changing for the better and
listening to what the people want. And, um, fingers crossed for lower sodium
Hebrew National 97% Fat Free Beef Franks!

Gotta Lock That Down!
Food is important, but the safety of yourself and your loved ones is MORE
important, so we feel totally justified in halting the snack talk to mention this.
If you're in college or know someone who is, check out
SecureOnCampus.com, an awesome resource for mini-safes (lock up
personal documents and bank statements -- identity theft stinks!), computer
locks (laptops are some of the most frequently stolen items on campuses),
self-defense spray (in cute pink cases), emergency kits, and other devices
and info to keep you and your stuff safe. We think maybe the site should add
a lockable mini-fridge... just in case hungry roommates can't keep their paws
off the guilt-free grub!

Trick or Treat?! No, REALLY...
WARNING! The jelly beans you are about to consume may be highly
disgusting. Be a little wary if your prankster friend hands you a tin of jelly
beans -- you could get BEANBOOZLED. Jelly Belly's BeanBoozled candies
come in twenty flavors... but only ten colors. Each color has a good-tasting
version (like Chocolate Pudding) and a bad-tasting version (like Canned Dog
Food). You can personalize tins and include one color or the full array. Why
do it? Who knows. People are weird. We just know that if any Rotten Egg
flavored beans end up in our office, there's gonna be trouble. Click here to
see all the flavors -- the good AND the gross. Each bean clocks in at 4
calories. P.S. Rumor has it, the formula for the Barf flavor is based on Jelly
Belly's failed attempts at making a pepperoni pizza flavor back in the day...

The Buzz...

NEW HG VIDEO ALERT! To see our brand-new (and completely silly!)
Halloween video -- featuring the HG staff and a slew of delicious and spooky
no-guilt recipes -- CLICK HERE NOW! In pretty-new-packaging news (yes,
there is such a thing), keep an eye out for the brand-new and improved
Crystal Light "look." The powdered drink giant has changed its familiar logo
to make it more current, clean, crisp, and COOL. We like it! We also enjoy
the new planet-friendly, multi-serving packets that are replacing those
outdated tubs. Food collectors interested in owning the old clunky canisters,
grab some before they're gone forever. Then sell them on eBay for a bundle
in a few years (or just use 'em when you're thirsty). ***Do you think P.F.
Chang's doesn't care about giving you some no-guilt options? If so, you're
flat wrong (and that's a GOOD thing)! Check out the steamed Buddha's Feast
entrée (only about 400 calories for the ENTIRE 2.5-serving order!) and the
Orange Peel Shrimp (less than 200 calories per serving). Not bad for the
home of the 1,440-calorie Great Wall of Chocolate. That's all we've got. HG
out!
