***ATTENTION TEXT-ONLY HG SUBSCRIBERS (this means YOU!): Since only
a tiny fraction of our audience receives our emails in text-only form, and the
emails look so much better designed in HTML, we have decided to stop
sending out the text-only versions of Hungry Girl newsletters. This change
will happen in the very near future. Keep an eye out for the HTML versions in
your inbox... coming soon!***

This is the text version of Hungry Girl.

Let Starbucks Pick Your Brain!

Are you a java know-it-all? Have a spectacular coffee-related idea and no
one to tell it to? YOU are in luck, kiddo. The folks at Starbucks want your
ideas AND they plan to use 'em. Go to mystarbucksideas.com to submit your
genius proposal. ("Dear SB... Have you considered offering Unsweetened
Vanilla Almond Breeze?") Maybe it'll catch on! Check out these 50+ ideas
they've recently launched, including the fantastic Decaf Via. You can also
scope out other people's suggestions and even vote on them. (Sign up to
post ideas and to vote.) In fact, here are some we think are worth voting
on...

Fat-Free Whipped Cream - No explanation needed!

Mini Cookies - Same great flavors, but fewer calories and lower cost.

More Sugar-Free Syrup Options - Coconut! Chocolate Macadamia Nut! Oreo!
(Does that last one even exist? 'Cuz it should.)

Nicely done, Starbucks (and Starbucks suggesters)!

Don't Forget Your Furry Friends: Holiday Tips for Pet Owners...

We found some GREAT advice for keeping your non-human family members
safe during the holidays. We're sharing it with you because WE CARE. How is
this related to guilt-free food? Try reading it while chewing a VitaTop...

* Make sure to keep chocolate away from pets. They love it, but it's
potentially VERY bad for them. Other super-fatty, sugary, and/or caffeinated
human foods aren't good for them either.

* During a party, clean up any spilled alcohol and half-empty glasses of the
stuff. It's SUPER-dangerous to pets.

* Take caution with live Christmas trees. Make sure the water stand is
covered -- between bacteria and poisonous pine sap, that water can be
detrimental to pets if they drink it. Also make sure to clean up loose pine
needles, so your little pals don't ingest them.

* Beware of decorations that can be hazardous to pets! Animals can choke
on tinsel, and that spray-on snow can be toxic.

* Festive plants are great, but some of them are poisonous. ACK! Avoid
lilies, holly, and mistletoe... or at least anchor that mistletoe REALLY well and
high up.

kiddies, too) by clicking here, here, and here. Oh, and don't forget to give a
special pet-friendly treat (or two) to your favorite animal. Woof! Meow.
Quack!

The HG Poll Results Are In!!!

Last week, we launched our Official 2009 HG Poll, and more than 30,000 of
you responded within the first 12 hours! Here's what you had to say...

Sandwich Thins excluded, the 50-calorie, HG-endorsed Yoplait Fiber One
Yogurt was voted the best new product. (YAY!) Pillsbury Crescent Recipe
Creations Seamless Dough Sheet and Jell-O Mousse Temptations tied in a
close second place. ***The BEST dessert recipe, according to YOU, is our
Best of My Lava Chocolate Cake. Swingin' Cinna-Monkey Bread Singles also
earned thousands and thousands of votes. ***When it comes to non-dessert
recipes, the 10-Alarm Turkey Chili (in a slow cooker) was voted the most
popular. Tying for 2nd place: Too-EZ Mac 'n Cheese and EZ Cheesy Lasagna
for Two. ***Regarding the upcoming year, nearly 50% of you are most
excited about new recipes that'll debut in the daily emails. ***Your favorite
new addition to HG in '09 is slow cooker recipes, by an overwhelming margin.
***The type of video content with the most votes? Recipe demos, like our
H.O.T. Hot Boneless Buffalo Wings video! ***The winning snack duo of the
year: Egg Beaters Original + Laughing Cow Light, a.k.a. The Egg Mug
Classic, by a landslide. ***And as for the food trend you hope is here to
stay? 100-calorie portion-controlled foods, followed closely by adding FIBER
to everything. Yayayayayay! Thanks for taking our poll. That's all we've got.
HG out!
