***ATTENTION TEXT-ONLY HG SUBSCRIBERS (this means YOU!): Since only

a tiny fraction of our audience receives our emails in text-only form, and the

emails look so much better designed in HTML, we have decided to stop

sending out the text-only versions of Hungry Girl newsletters. This change

will happen in the very near future. Keep an eye out for the HTML versions in

your inbox... coming soon!***

This is the text version of Hungry Girl.

Gorton's Grilled Tilapia, Lemon Peppercorn - Love to eat fish? Go the easy

route and grab a box of perfectly portioned, well-seasoned frozen fillets. This

brand-new Lemon Peppercorn flavor from Gorton's line of Grilled Tilapia is

AWESOME, and each fillet (about 3 oz.) has only 80 calories, 3g fat, 260mg

sodium, <1g carbs, 0g fiber, 0g sugars, and 14g protein (POINTS® value

2*). No bait required. P.S. Click here for a cool recipe contest!

Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Chocolate Adventures Goldfish, Chocolate

Dunked Pretzels - The salty-sweet combo of pretzels and chocolate ROCKS,

and it tastes 13% better when shaped like goldfish. (It's true -- try it.) A 12-

piece serving of these adorable choco-dunked fishies has 140 calories, 6g

fat, 70mg sodium, 19g carbs, <1g fiber, 11g sugars, and 2g protein

(POINTS® value 3*). Find them at select stores, like Target and Walgreens.

And do it soon -- they really are "limited edition" items!

Pop-Tarts Limited Edition Popsters Baked Crispy Bites - Want 100-calorie

packs of Pop-Tart-inspired goodies? Who doesn't!? These icing-topped,

each 100-cal pouch has 2.5g fat, 110 - 115mg sodium, 18g carbs, <1g fiber,

than tearing into a 2-pastry pack of the full-sized things, which could set you

back about 400 calories!

Bitty Bites!

The Real Price of Dieting

Now that the new year is here, a lot of people -- fresh off their holiday chow-

fests -- are running for the diet plans. But is it worth the dough? (And for

once, we don't mean Pillsbury.) Check out this terrific article that breaks

down a handful of popular programs -- including how much they cost and

whether or not they're worth it. SPOILER ALERT! Weight Watchers comes out

on top for the combo of being cost-effective and a successful means of

weight loss. The bottom slot goes to In The Zone Delivery, which basically

costs about $224 per pound lost. ACK! Read up...

What's Up with the "Drive-Thru Diet"?

Nope, it's not a fast-food window slinging our Lord of the Onion Rings and

Queen-of-the-Castle Sliders. (We wish.) It's just Taco Bell's latest marketing

push, featuring before-and-after photos of its version of Subway's Jared,

a.k.a. Christine. In addition to chewing on T. Bell's Fresco items, she says, "I

reduced my daily calorie and fat intake by 500 calories to 1250 calories a

day, and, after two years, I ended up losing 54 pounds!" Well, DUH. You can

lose weight by eating food from just about ANY fast food chain, as long as

you're taking in fewer calories than you're burning. Whether you want to

spend your calories on tacos and burritos... that's YOUR call. For guilt-free

picks at any drive-thru, check out our fast food survival guides by clicking on

these links: Burger King, McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Wendy's.

Fast Food + Social Networking = Guilt-Free Giveaways

Subway has officially joined the rest of the world and created a Facebook

page! Okay, that's not the exciting part. The REALLY exciting part is that 'til

January 24th, ten fans per week will each win a $50 gift card! Click here for

the full 411. And while we're not 100% behind Taco Bell's "diet" ads, we do

love that Fresco menu. And The Bell's got a pretty cool Twitter contest going

on -- fifteen folks will win FREE Fresco food for a year. (Say that ten times

fast!) Click here for the tweet deets. FREE FOOD IS AWESOME! (Oh, and click

here to follow HG's Lisa on Twitter, and click here for the HG Facebook page.)

The Buzz...

***Let's hear it for creativity! Inventor Pep Torres attached a stationary bike

to a vending machine, rigging it so that in order to get those Ho Hos, you'd

have to do some quickie cardio. We want snack-cycles EVERYWHERE!

***Need some extra help saying NO to tempting snacks? Check out the

Record-O-Clip: a snack-bag clip/fridge magnet that lets you record a friendly

little message, to be played back whenever it's opened. Like, "Put your

hands in the air and back away from the chips, lady!" Or something more

helpful. You choose. ***Scales are scary, mostly because many of us dread

seeing our weight flash before our eyes. The kinder, gentler Quantum Scale

secretly logs your starting weight and only shows how much you've lost (or

gained, but hopefully lost)! The fact that it comes in pink is an added bonus.

***Eat your applesauce! For every pink package of Musselman's Apple

Sauce sold this month, the Big M will donate 10 cents to the National Breast

Cancer Foundation. Click here for more info, and stock up! ***Nauseating

commercials aside, Carl's Jr. has some GREAT salad options on its menu.

The new Cranberry, Apple, Walnut Grilled Chicken Salad has 300 calories,

and the Original Grilled Chicken Salad has only 200 calories. We recommend

pairing 'em with the Low Fat Balsamic Dressing, FYI! ***YAYAYAY, Chick-fil-

A! The chicken chain has added a yogurt parfait with pretty awesome stats to

its fried-food-heavy menu. With granola or Oreo (YUM!), you get a

substantial, fruit-topped treat for 200 - 240 calories, 4.5 - 5g fat, and 1 - 3g

fiber (POINTS® value 4 - 5*). There are some great grilled chicken salads

there, too. Nice! That's all we've got. HG out!
