***ATTENTION TEXT-ONLY HG SUBSCRIBERS (this means YOU!): Since only
a tiny fraction of our audience receives our emails in text-only form, and the
emails look so much better designed in HTML, we have decided to stop
sending out the text-only versions of Hungry Girl newsletters. This change
will happen in the very near future. Keep an eye out for the HTML versions in
your inbox... coming soon!***

This is the text version of Hungry Girl.

Hungry Girl Today: 5.3.10

Spotted on Shelves...

Amy's Light in Sodium Burritos - Amy's has added more sodium-friendly
options to its delicious lineup... burritos! Choose from Cheddar Cheese and
Non-Dairy. With organic pinto beans, brown rice, veggies, and a mild
Mexican sauce, each has 320 - 330 calories, 8 - 9g fat, 290mg sodium, 51 -
52g carbs, 7 - 8g fiber, 2g sugars, and 10 - 12g protein (POINTS® value 6 -
7*). Yum! Find 'em in the freezer aisle.

Laura's Wholesome Junk Food Bite-lettes - In the "small but worth it"
category, we submit these tasty morsels. The chewy cookies come in flavors
like Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Anna-Banana Split, Lemon-Vanilla, and Xtreme
Chocolate Fudge. A serving of 2 - 4 Bite-lettes has 100 - 120 calories, 4 - 6g
fat, 80 - 105mg sodium, 11 - 16g carbs, 1 - 2g fiber, 6 - 9g sugars, and 2g
protein (POINTS® value 2 - 3*). Heads up! The only flavor with a 4-piece
serving is Cole's Cashew Chocolate Chip (those treats are smaller and
lighter than the others). Click to find or buy online.

Boar's Head EverRoast Oven Roasted Chicken Breast - Turkey isn't the only
lean option at the deli counter, humans! This chicken is flavorful, high-quality
stuff -- not slimy like some other deli meats. A 2-oz. serving has 50 calories,
0.5g fat, 440mg sodium, 1g carbs, 1g sugars, and 13g protein
(POINTS® value 1*). Pssst! Those of you keeping an eye on salt intake
should check out BH's lower-sodium options!

World's Best 50-Calorie On-the-Go Protein Snack!

Warning: If you love delicious high-protein snacks, reading this may send
you over the edge. Healthy Snackin's Simply Snackin Dried Gourmet Meat
Snacks may very well be the BEST jerky-ish treats we have EVER tasted.
(We say "-ish" because these take jerky to a WHOLE new level!) Seriously.
We're talking all-natural chicken breast and beef sirloin with dried fruit,
cheese, and more. Just reading the flavor varieties -- Dried Teriyaki Chicken
with Mangoes & Papayas and Dried Beef Sirloin with Apples & Cherries, to
name a couple -- is enough to make our hearts race. It gets better. Check
out the stats! Each individually packaged strip has just 50 calories, 1 - 2g fat,
286 - 340mg sodium, 1 - 4g carbs, 0 - 2g sugars, and 8 - 12g protein
(POINTS® value 1*). It also has WAY less sodium than most jerky. We are
in L.O.V.E. Other great flavors include Italian-seasoned chicken with cheese,
teriyaki beef with pineapple, beef with cranberries and blueberries, and
chicken seasoned with black bean salsa and Wisconsin cheddar.
AHHHHHHH!!!! You can order these online and then tote them around as
super-awesome emergency snacks. Our new BFFs over at Healthy Snackin
have graciously offered up free shipping for HG subscribers with promo
code: freeship. (One order per customer. Expires 5/10/10.) BTW, to be clear,
we are NOT being paid for this editorial praise (or any of the other editorial in
our daily emails!); we just FLIPPED for these snacks and insist on
sharing 'em with the world. You're welcome. :)

Stuff You Didn't Know You Needed!

Sprout Apparel - Instilling healthy eating habits in little ones can be a chore,
but this cute clothing line makes it WAY more fun. Each colorful shirt or
onesie comes emblazoned with a description and nutritional info about a fruit
or veggie. Choose from Apple, Banana, Carrot, and Eggplant -- or grab a
box of all four. Not only is this a fun learning tool for inquisitive toddlers, but
it's also a helpful reminder of the good stuff you should be eating. Food +
adorableness = YAY!

Acrylic 80 oz. Pitcher with Fruit Infuser - We spied this during our last trip to
QVC, and it's pure GENIUS. Add cut fruit to the center section, fill the pitcher
with water (or your liquid of choice), and let infusion happen. Then pour your
lightly flavored beverage without stuff sloshing around and making a mess.
AMAZING. And so delicious! Try pineapple chunks with light lemonade,
strawberries 'n blueberries with Sprite Zero... Mmmmmmm!

Flirty Aprons - As if it isn't hard enough to look good while you cook --
tomato sauce gets everywhere! -- most aprons leave you feeling REALLY
frumpy. No more! These are no hausfrau duds; they're the cutest aprons
around. And if you get spattered with something, you don't have to change
your whole date-night outfit!

The Buzz...

Breaking news! Applebee's has long been providing just the bare minimum
nutritional info required by law in specific states... but now the chain's posted
full stats online! THANK YOU, APPLEBEE'S! ***You've probably heard all
about the nationwide crackdown on salt. (We're trying to lower our sodium,
too.) Well, a bunch of companies, from chain restaurants like Subway to food
companies like Kraft, are voluntarily joining NYC's National Salt Reduction
Initiative and trimming the salt from their foods. Way to be proactive, food
folks! ***Speaking of sodium cuts, check out our fishy friends at Bumble
Bee; their entire albacore line now has 140mg or less per serving. That's 44
percent less than before. High five! (Can bees give high fives?) ***Have you
been to The Daily Plate recently? The site's calorie-tracker recently
underwent a total revamp and is WAY more user-friendly. Dubbed MyPlate,
you can find it over at Livestrong.com. Check it out! ***CUTE COOKING
VIDEO ALERT. Please observe HG pal Rob Barrett of "Cooking for Dads"
whipping up our very own Amazin' Asian Ahi Tuna Burgers. These burgers
just made their debut in the pages of HG 1-2-3, and they ROCK! What are
you waiting for? WATCH NOW! That's all we've got. HG out!
