ASK HUNGRY GIRL

HEY, SEATTLE... FREE HG PARTY TONIGHT! Come enjoy HG cocktails &
appetizers (plus Popchips & prizes!) while hangin' with Hungry Girl herself. It
all happens at 6pm at the Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland, WA. CLICK NOW!

Dear Hungry Girl,

I don't have time to cook in the morning, but I like to sit down and eat
something before I rush out the door. Do you have any ideas or recipes for
breakfast foods that don't require any cooking?

A.M. Chewer

Dear A.M. Chewer,

Yes, I have MANY recipes and ideas... Lucky you! :)

Ginormous Cereal Bowl-anza - This is one of my favorite fast & easy
breakfasts. You get a HUGE bowl of cereal with berries and vanilla-flavored
milk for less than 300 calories!

Parfaits - I love parfaits. Start with some sort of creamy base -- like fat-free
flavored yogurt or fat-free cottage cheese (with a little vanilla extract and
sweetener). Then add lots of fruit -- fresh (I like sliced strawberries and
chunks of mango) or freeze-dried (Gerber Mini Fruits, Funky Monkey, etc.).
Top it off with something sweet and crunchy, like cereal (Fiber One Caramel
Delight is SO good!) or crushed low-fat graham crackers. Then EAT. If you're
not feeling especially creative, check out these HG recipes: PB&J Yogurt
Parfait, Piña Colada Parfait Surprise, and Dessert Island Parfait.

Make-Ahead Morning Meals - Okay, technically, these require cooking. But
you can make them the night before, and then just heat and eat... or
have 'em cold! (It's YOUR breakfast.) Some of my faves are the Ginormous
Oven-Baked Omelette, Grab 'n Go Breakfast Cookies, Egga-Pinwheels, and
Fluffy-Good Zucchini Nut Muffins. But my #1 choice? I make a giant bowl of
oatmeal at night (click for the recipe) and eat it chilled in the morning. It's
FANTASTIC.

No-Cook B-Fast Sandwiches - Smear some stuff on a light English muffin or a
Sandwich Thins roll -- like a Laughing Cow Light cheese wedge or some
Salmon Spread the Love. Then add a few tomato and cucumber slices,
maybe a couple slices of turkey breast, and a little Dijonnaise, and you're
good to go!

Happy chewing!

Hey HG,

OMG, congrats on the TV show (I can't WAIT 'til it airs) and the new cocktail
book! I've got a question for you, though. I'm only 17, but I LOVE all things
HG... Can I make the drinks in Happy Hour without alcohol? How?

Thirsty in Thousand Oaks

Dear Thirsty,

Thank you -- I'm excited for the show to start too! As for the cocktail book,
you can definitely make "mocktails" using the recipes in the book. I've done
it, and they taste great! In fact, it's as easy as 1-2-3...

1. Swap out the alcohol. Check to see what other liquid ingredients the recipe
calls for -- diet soda, light juice, light vanilla soymilk, etc. Then just increase
the amount by however much alcohol the recipe calls for (usually 1 1/2 oz. --
or 3 tbsp. -- per drink).

2. Make to taste. A bunch of the recipes call for powdered drink mix, like
Crystal Light. But since alcohol really balances out the sweet intensity of that
stuff, you won't need as much when you make mocktails. So add a little at a
time, until it tastes perfect.

3. Add a straw and enjoy! Okay, I guess it's really as easy as 1-2! BTW,
since most of the calories in HG cocktails come from the alcohol itself, your
virgin-style cocktails will be super-low in the stats department! And don't
forget, Happy Hour also includes 25 of our best party-food recipes... And
these foods are perfect for all ages!
