ASK HUNGRY GIRL

Dear Hungry Girl,

I need your help. I am going to a Labor Day cookout, complete with

cocktails, BBQ food, tons of snacks... the works. How can I avoid blowing my

diet without feeling deprived?

Cookout Cutie

Dear Cookout Cutie,

Don't sweat it! Even though BBQs can be packed with fattening foods, there's

usually a TON of amazing, good-for-you stuff there too. Over the years, I've

sent out lots of emails with tips & tricks on how to survive 'em... and in case

you don't feel like searching the archives of the website, here are links to

four great emails!

1. Memorial Day Must-Read - Different holiday, same guidelines!

2. Labor Day Survival Guide - Kebab tips, seasoning picks, shockers, and

more! Super-helpful info here... plus a 100-calorie cocktail you can easily

whip up at a cookout.

3. HG's 2010 Summer Survival Guide - There are some FANTASTIC food

finds here -- bring 'em along, and everyone will love you!

4. Emergency Snacks 411 - There's nothing wrong with stashing a few guilt-

free goodies in your bag, just in case the fattening snacks are calling to you.

This list features travel-friendly foods that can withstand the heat!

Have fun!!!

Hungry Girl,

Thanks for your daily emails -- they're so informative and helpful in the

weight-loss battle! Sometimes my husband and I like to have breakfast for

dinner. Any good no-guilt recipes for that kind of thing? Thanks so much!

Hungry Vicki

Hi Hungry Vicki,

I loooooooooooove breakfast foods any time of day! Here are some

breakfast-ish recipes that I think would be GREAT for dinner. (Just double the

single-serving recipes.) They're filling and deeelicious...

Overstuffed Peanut Butter 'n Banana French Toast - I love French toast so

much I can barely stand it. This PB-banana version would be awesome for

dinner. BTW, there's an entire chapter of FT recipes in HG 1-2-3; if you have

that cookbook, definitely try the savory Super-Cheesy Ham-Stuffed French

Toast!

Breakfast Scramble Pizza Pie - Scrambled eggs + pizza = perfect breakfast-

for-dinner food!!!

Nice to See Ya! Quesadilla - This crazy-large quesadilla is stuffed with all

sorts of omelette-friendly ingredients. There's even BACON!

Erin-Go-Breakfast Boxty - Potato pancakes topped with cheese and egg

goodness? This four-serving recipe is an amazing dinner option. And if it's

just the two of you, you'll have breakfast all ready to go for the next

morning!

The Big Apple French Toast Casserole - Here's another multi-serving dish.

Have it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert!

CHEW ON THIS:

National Mushroom Month has arrived, people. Portabellas are a favorite of

ours, so we'll be swallowing some 'Bella Asada Fajitas and Ring-My-Bella

Mushroom Sandwiches. Yum time!
