***ATTENTION TEXT-ONLY HG SUBSCRIBERS (this means YOU!): Since only
a tiny fraction of our audience receives our emails in text-only form, and the
emails look so much better designed in HTML, we have decided to stop
sending out the text-only versions of Hungry Girl newsletters. This change
will happen in the very near future. Keep an eye out for the HTML versions in
your inbox... coming soon!***

This is the text version of Hungry Girl.

Hungry Girl Today: 09.20.10

Spotted on Shelves...

Healthy Choice Steaming Entrées - OMG. These new lunch-sized meals sound
so fancy! Chicken Romano Fresca? Portabella Parmesan Risotto? HELLO!
Plus, they're perfectly portioned. Each meal (about 8 oz.) has 170 - 320
calories, 2.5 - 7g fat, 490 - 600mg sodium, 23 - 55g carbs, 3 - 5g fiber, 0 -
12g sugars, and 9 - 16g protein (POINTS® value 3 - 6*). Is it time for lunch
yet?!

ThinkThin Crunch Bars - Looking for a sweet, nutty bar without loads of
sugar? These have 70 percent less sugar than leading fruit-and-nut bars,
plus they're full of omega-3s, protein, fiber, and FLAVOR! Try the regular
Mixed Nuts bar or one of the chocolatey versions for only 190 - 200 calories,
12 - 13g fat, 70 - 115mg sodium, 14 - 16g carbs, 3 - 4g fiber, 3 - 4g sugars,
and 10g protein (POINTS® value 4*). Get chompin', you nutty thing!

Weight Watchers Rye Flat Rolls - Stop the presses! (Wait, we don't have
presses. Never mind.) The WW peeps have jumped on the slim-buns
bandwagon, and they're going with rye. YUM! Each rye-tastic roll has 100
calories, 1g fat, 220mg sodium, 23g carbs, 5g fiber, 2g sugars, and 4g
protein (POINTS® value 1). Look for these on supermarket shelves!

Chew for a Cause -- DO IT!

We often encourage whipping up meals at home, but this week we're
saying, "DINE OUT!" Restaurants participating in the Great American Dine
Out will donate a portion of the week's proceeds to Share Our Strength. Just
by having a meal, you'll be helping hungry kids across the country. Click
here to find a participating restaurant -- then search the HG site for tips on
what (and what not!) to order. And spread the word by taking part in today's
Tweet-a-Thon; include #DineOut or #NoKidHungry in your tweets and urge
others to dine out and support the cause. If you're more of a Facebook
person, click here and say you're "attending." So go out, eat up, and make
sure no kids go hungry!

Not Just a Calorie Bargain!
Diet-Friendly Dollar Deals at the Drive-Thru!

Fast-food bargain menus are pretty sweet... when it comes to saving cash, at
least. Our big problem with 'em? They typically consist mostly of high-calorie,
fatty items. (What gives?!) This is why we're SUPER excited to tell you about
a couple of low-cost items with reasonable stats that've recently popped up
at popular fast-food joints. Taco Bell is advertising its new Chicken Flatbread
Sandwich as being cents savvy, and it makes us happy with only 290 calories
and 15g fat (POINTS® value 7*). You could also get a Fresco Style Taco
(Soft or Crunchy) or Fresco Style Burrito (Bean or Grilled Chicken) for under
a buck at most T. Bell locations! And over at Arby's, the new Jr. Deluxe
sandwich debuted on the starting-at-$1 Value Menu; order it without mayo,
and it'll clock in with only 210 cals and 7g fat (POINTS® value 4*). But
topping our "What Not to Order from the Bargain Menu" list? Burger King's
new Buck Double, which packs in over 400 calories and 22g fat. We can think
of MUCH better ways to spend a dollar...

The Buzz...

Good news for people who like to slurp zesty veggies: V8 Spicy Hot 100%
Vegetable Juice is now available in Low Sodium! Only 140mg sodium and 50
calories per 1-cup serving. Try it out in our Yumbo Gumbo recipe. Delicious!
***Holy cannoli! Have you seen these impressive new menu items at the
Olive Garden? The Seafood Brodetto has 480 cals and 16g fat, and the fruity
varieties of Dolcini (mini desserts) have 210 - 230 calories and 11 - 13g fat
each. Not bad for Italian restaurant food! Just stay away from the Never
Ending Pasta Bowls... ***News from the world of science: A study headed up
by a USDA chemist suggests that cinnamon extract could potentially
decrease risk factors associated with diabetes and heart disease. More
research is needed to support the claim, and we don't have extract on hand,
but we're gonna sprinkle a little extra cinnamon on our oatmeal just in case!
***Oooh, free smoothie alert! Click here for a BOGO coupon from Jamba
Juice (expires 9/22/10). And click here to check out the Light Smoothies in
the recently revamped nutritionals section of Jamba's website -- schmancy
and SUPER helpful. ***Here's some info that will interest the
cholesterol conscious and the caramel obsessed: BENECOL SMART CHEWS
ARE BACK! Click here for a reminder of why we love 'em. ***Hungry for
more HG? Check out the October issue of Redbook -- on stands tomorrow
(Tuesday, 9/21) -- for some exclusive Hungry Girl Halloween content! That's
all we've got. HG out!
