CHEW THE RIGHT THING

BITE IT!

HG’s Cinnamonlicious French Toast!

Cin-fully Good!

French toast is one of those breakfasts you dream about. It's decadent,

delicious, warm, doughy, and just plain AWESOME. It's also something you

THINK you need to avoid if you're counting calories. Wrong-o, people! HG

has been slaving over her trusty frying pan yet again (she loves that thing!),

this time concocting super-delicious and EXTREMELY guilt-free french toast.

HG Tip: Try this stuff on Monday mornings and you'll actually have a reason

to get out of bed.

Ingredients:

3 slices Wonder Light White Bread

1/3 cup Egg Beaters, Original

1/2 oz. Torani Sugar Free Vanilla Syrup OR 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract

1/2 tsp. cinnamon (divided)

1 packet SPLENDA

Directions:

Combine Egg Beaters with vanilla syrup (or extract) and half of the

cinnamon. Use the egg mixture as an egg wash, and dip your bread into it.

Cook in a pan sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. When both sides are

brown, plate those suckers and sprinkle ‘em with Splenda and the remaining

cinnamon. This stuff is super on its own, but feel free to serve it up with

sugar-free maple syrup, sugar-free jelly, some fresh berries, and/or some

Fat Free Reddi-wip. Of course your nutritionals will vary accordingly, but with

such low calorie and fat counts, you can afford to splurge a little...

HG Heads Up: Feel free to make just two slices of the stuff. We used THREE

for our recipe to make it a more fair comparison!

FIGHT IT!

Denny’s French Toast

French Miss

When we saw the 1,261-calorie, 79-fat-gram price tag on Denny’s so-

called “Fabulous” French Toast Platter, we had to laugh. Then, we wanted to

cry. But once we hopped off that emotional roller coaster, we needed to

figure out where all the crazy calories and fat grams were coming from. We

figured most of those high nutritionals HAD to be coming from greasy,

horrendous b-fast meats and/or mounds of butter & syrup. But we were flat

wrong. Just the plain old french toast on that plate alone contains over

1,000 calories and 54 fat grams! Yowsa! Truth is, egg-battered, pan-fried

bread is usually NOT a healthy option. That is, until HG gets her breakfast-

loving paws on it. French toast lovers -- just head into the kitchen and whip

up a batch of HG’s crazy-good Cinnamonlicious French Toast. Weeee! (Or

should we say, Ouiiiii!?)

***Today's email is dedicated to Mischief, a much loved friend of Hungry

Girl's. Mischief was a fun, sweet, gentle cat who spent his days lounging at

the Hungry Girl HQ as we created recipes, tasted foods, and wrote our daily

emails. Yesterday at sundown we had to say goodbye to Mischief, but he will

live in our hearts forever. He was 21 years old. Mischief's favorite snack

treat was Greenies -- I have no idea if they are low in calories or fat, and I

don't care. --Lisa
