Healthy Secret Ingredients: Wonton Wrappers, Powdered Peanut Butter & More

Nov 6 2019
Hi Lisa,

I wish I could have seen your cooking demo at the New York City Wine & Food Festival, but I live in Seattle! Would love to know what tips and tricks you shared.

Fear of Missing Out Fan

Hi FOMO Fan,

NYCWFF was a blast! I showcased some of my favorite ingredients for easy and creative recipe hacks. Here’s what you missed…

Wonton & Gyoza Wrappers

4 wrappers: 65 - 75 calories, 0g total fat (0g sat. fat), 65 - 140mg sodium, 14 - 15.5g carbs, 0.5g fiber, 0.5g sugars, 2g protein -- SmartPoints® value 2*

One of my favorite kitchen tricks is placing wonton wrappers in a muffin pan to make crunchy little cups! I also recently started experimenting with gyoza wrappers, which are basically round versions of wonton wrappers, perfect for potstickers and dumplings.

Protein Powder

1 oz. scoop (about 6 tbsp.): 100 calories, 1.5g total fat (1g sat. fat), 55mg sodium, 4g carbs, <0.5g fiber, 2g sugars, 19g protein -- SmartPoints® value 2*

I’ve been using protein powder for a while now in baked goods and Frappuccino swaps, but my latest use for the stuff is in my 2-ingredient protein crepes, made with egg whites and protein powder! Stuff it any way you like… Sometimes I snack on ‘em straight!

Powdered Peanut Butter

2 tbsp.: 50 calories, 2g total fat (<0.5g sat. fat), 34mg sodium, 4g carbs, 2g fiber, 1g sugars, 6g protein -- SmartPoints® value 1*

This one's been in my world forever, but I keep finding amazing new ways to use it: pancakes, brownies, and my latest creation… peanut butter cake in a mug! Powdered peanut butter (a.k.a. defatted peanut flour) has less than half the calories of regular peanut butter. Find it in the PB aisle or over on Amazon.

Anthony’s Cheddar Cheese Powder

2 tbsp.: 70 calories, 4g total fat (2.5g sat. fat), 450mg sodium, 4g carbs, 0g fiber, 4g sugars, 4g protein -- SmartPoints® value 3*

This stuff is like that magical pack of powder in Kraft mac ‘n cheese boxes, except it comes in bulk, and it’s more delicious & all natural. Just add water for the most amazingly easy cheese sauce. Last I checked, it’s currently unavailable on Amazon, but it's definitely worth signing up to be notified when it’s back in stock. Hoosier Hill Farm makes a similar product!
