Hungry Girl Diet Fun!
We Tried It: Veggetti!
It's Pronounced "Veh-geh-tee" --
Rhymes with "Spaghetti!!"
We Tried It: Veggetti, The Veggie Noodle Maker!

We gave this gadget a test drive, and the results are in...

What Worked Great: The Veggetti effortlessly churned out "noodles" from zucchini, potatoes, and cucumbers. Score!

What Didn't: Carrots -- they just kind of crumbled after they went through the slicer.

Official HG Grade: An enthusiastic A-. We're big fans of using veggie noodles to replace pasta or boost serving sizes, so we love this simple slicer. Use it to make Zucchini-Ribbon Salad, super-sized fettuccine, or a noodle-icious spin on sunomono salad.

The Buzz...

A new veggie hybrid has just hit the market... BrusselKale, a leafy green, is a cross between Brussels sprouts and kale, with a milder flavor than either. It boasts double the vitamin B6 and vitamin C in regular Brussels sprouts! Impressive. We're also impressed with its resealable microwave-safe bag -- open, season, seal, and steam! It's currently available in select stores on the East Coast... We can't wait for the nationwide rollout. ***Did you know that Google can not only serve up speedy nutrition info, but it can also compare the stats for two foods for you? Wanna see a side-by-side comparison of butternut squash and sweet potatoes? DONE. Careful, it's addictive... ***We've always known eating fruit is good for us, and now it turns out that just smelling it could be beneficial. According to the Daily Mail, psychologists conducted a study to see if a fruity fragrance could affect peoples' food choices. Compared with the control group, subjects exposed to a pear-scented room spray before being faced with a buffet were less likely to choose chocolate brownies and instead favored an apple-based dessert. We'll throw out our chocolate brownie spray right now... ***Finally, if you're a world traveler (or want to be), read up on this list of dining etiquette from around the globe. Apparently, it's très gauche to split a check in Paris. And that's all we've got. HG out!
