Brew With a Clue!

Light beer drinkers, prick up your ears (what's up with that expression?)!  Beck's is about to unveil the lightest light beer ever.  Beck's Premier Light will hit store shelves in early 2005.  Like other Beck's beers, it will be imported from Germany and live in a familiar green bottle with an oval-shaped label.  But unlike the others, Beck's Premier Light will contain just 64 calories a serving.  That's insanely low!  And great news for anyone who likes beer but not beer bellies.  By the way, if you're still counting carbs, the new ale has just 3.9 per bottle.

(Almost.)
Hungrier Girl?!?!

Have you heard of the Black Widow?  No, not the spider.  We're talking about Sonya Thomas, the 105-pound crazylady who wins almost every eating contest she enters.  The competitive little thing (who consistently out-chews men twice her size) snagged first prize in the World's Meatball Eating Contest last week, devouring 89 meatballs in 12 minutes.  Since embarking on her stomach-busting adventures 18 months ago, she's gained over $40,000, but not a single pound.  Other insane feasting feats she's accomplished?  Swallowing 11 pounds of cheesecake in nine minutes, gulping down 52 hard-boiled eggs in 5 minutes, inhaling 167 buffalo wings in 12 minutes, and cramming in 23 pulled pork sandwiches in 10 minutes.  Hungry Girl Warning: DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!!
Eggs: Good For Your Eyes...and Your Thighs?

New research suggests that eggs are not only good for weight loss, but they can also help prevent certain eye diseases.  A recent weight loss study found that women who ate higher protein breakfast foods (including eggs) lost more weight than women who consumed carb-rich morning meals.  But the really impressive part is that those who ate protein in the morning lost nearly TWICE as much FAT as those eating carbs for breakfast.  Need more egg-tastic news?  The lutein and zeaxanthin found in eggs protect your eyes from harmful ultraviolet light, and diets rich in these antioxidants can cut the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration (two leading causes of blindness) by 20-40%.  Eggcellent!
Today, December 13th, is National Ice Cream and Violins Day.  Yeah, we don't get it either.  What's tomorrow...Pork Chops & Ointment Day?
