What's the deal with those shirataki noodles? Everyone is obsessed with them and I can't find them locally. It's driving me nuts! Is there anything at all I can do?
I am a HUGE fan of Tofu Shirataki Noodles. These pasta swap wonders are made of tofu and yam flour, but you'd never know they weren't the real thing. Swallow the entire two serving package, and you'll have a hefty portion of "pasta" for only 40 calories, 1g of fat, 6 carbs, and 4g fiber. Or pair your noodles with light cheese and a few more ingredients to make the famous 80-calorie Fettucine Hungry Girlfredo! These noodles can be found at some grocery stores, select Whole Foods locations, Japanese markets, or order them via phone, by calling Heavenly Diet Store at 818.325.8087. But they're not nationally distributed yet, so there are some states where they're simply NOT available. We need to change that NOW! If you can't afford to have them shipped to you (it's kind of pricey), try emailing House Foods and telling them you NEED these noodles to be sold in your area. If enough people write in, we can definitely help expand distribution for this great pasta substitute. Just do it...and remember every email counts!
What, in your opinion, is the BEST way to instantly kill a food craving? Thanks!
Cravings are the worst. Sometimes it seems that the only way to cure one is by ploughing through a pint of Chunky Monkey or by shoveling an order of curly fries down your throat. Luckily, there are ways to kill those dreaded cravings without blowing your diet. For me, the best way to squash a desire for food is to pop a super strong mint or minty piece of gum in my mouth. If the gum or mint is intense enough, your tastebuds become too preoccupied to focus on the chocolate, cookies, chips, or pizza you had wanted so badly. Try it, it really works! I recommend keeping some Dentyne Ice (Arctic Chill is the strongest!!) in your purse. Another great way to kill cravings is to indulge in a healthier version of the food you're salivating over. Want chocolate? Have a Gayle's Miracle or a chocolate Vitalicious muffin. Want chips? Have some Spud Delites. This way you get to satisfy your urge to splurge, without taking in tons of fat and calories. Good luck!
