Starbucks has added some reduced fat options to their menu. But don't fool yourself into thinking they're necessarily low in calories, or even fat. If you're going to partake, know what you're getting into.
You'd be surprised just how much damage a little whipped cream or a couple of pumps of syrup can do. Skip these little extras to keep your drink from turning into a liquid fright-fest:
Whipped Cream - That big, scary squirt of whipped cream can add up to 130 calories & 12 grams of fat to your drink. What a silly idea that is!
Syrup Swap - The Bucks' regular flavored syrups add about 20-25 calories a pump to your beverage. Their SF syrup is calorie-free. Weeeee!
Don't Go Bananas
Don't think just because a Starbucks Frappuccino is labeled as 'Light' it's low cal. Unfortunately, such is the case with Starbucks' new summer time blended banana beverages. Yes, the light version of this frothy concotion is lower in calories than the regular one, but it's still quite high for a beverage. Take a look for yourself...
Don't be shy. Use the secret of Hungry Girls everywhere and order your drink in a "short" size. It's not on the menu but your friendly neighborhood barista will happily accommodate you and save you dozens of calories and fat grams along the way. Woohoo!
