Dear Hungry Girl,

I would like to make desserts at home using fruit, but without having to fry or bake anything.  Any suggestions for no-bake sweet fruity desserts?

Dear Hates Cooking,

There are many fun, easy ways to prepare sweet fruit treats at home without baking. One of my favorite things to do is cut up yummy summer fruits like peaches, melon, grapes and plums, put 'em in a bowl and pour Diet Cherry 7-Up or some Sugar Free Torani Syrup on top.  It's GREAT!  I also make my own yogurt parfaits, using non-fat vanilla yogurt and fresh cut strawberries and blueberries. Just alternate layers of yogurt and fruit.  Sometimes I top it off with fat free whipped cream if I'm feeling adventurous.  Try it!

Dear Hungry Girl,

Life without pie is like living in hell.  With all those apple chunks poking out, how bad can it be?

Dear Pie Guy,

Just because something is made with apples doesn't mean it’s healthy.  Cream of broccoli soup and fried zucchini aren't good choices either.  Why drown perfectly good fruits & veggies in sauces, oil and butter?  Apple pie is loaded with fat, sugar and calories so it's not the best way to eat fruit.  If you're a lover of cinnamony-apple goodness, bake apples instead of apple pie.  Hate to cook?  No worries - even someone who is kitchen-challenged (i.e. ME) can easily make them.  Just core some Rome Beauties (the best kind for baking), pour sugar free black cherry soda over them, sprinkle with Splenda and cinnamon, then bake at 350 degrees for around 45 minutes or until soft.  Serve hot or cold.  Yum!

Today, August 5th, is National Mustard Day. Try using mustard or Dijonaisse in tuna salad, instead of mixing it with mayo.  You'll save hundreds of calories and oodles of fat!
