Spotted on Shelves...

Trop50 - Tropicana has replaced its sweetened-with-Splenda Light 'n Healthy
juice drink line with the brand-new stevia-sweetened Trop50 line. With 50%
less sugar and calories than regular OJ, this stuff is available in Pulp Free,
Pulp Free with Calcium & Vitamin D, and Some Pulp. An 8-oz. serving has 50
calories, 0g fat, 13g carbs, 0g fiber, and <1g protein (POINTS® value 1*).
Our pick is the version with pulp -- it's great and worth the 50-calorie price
tag! BTW, don't let the company's new packaging fool you -- it's still
Tropicana. Pssst... Click here and sign up to get a coupon!

Kashi Mexicali Black Bean Thin Crust Pizza - Keep those creative pizza
flavors coming, Kashi. We love 'em! This latest one has a spicy black bean
and tomato sauce blend, mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, fire-roasted corn,
peppers and more. Each serving (1/3rd of the pie) contains 210 calories, 7g
fat, 27g carbs, 4g fiber, and 13g protein (POINTS® value 4*). Yay!

Hershey's 100 Calorie Whipped Vanilla Bars - The thought of these vanilla-
licious portion-controlled candy bars has US whipped up. We've yet to spot
these on shelves personally, but we hear they have 3g fat, 18g carbs, 0g
fiber, and <1g protein (POINTS® value 2*) each. Have you tried 'em? Let us
know what you think. And Hershey's, feel free to send some our way.

Little Town, Biggest Loser

We LOVE this story. Residents of the itty-bitty town of Fossil, OR, have joined
forces to help each other lose weight in what they're calling the "Biggest
Loser" campaign, despite facing a whole lot of obstacles. With no fitness
centers for miles, participants gather at the local grade-school gym for
workouts, where their "equipment" is as bare bones as it gets. Before
ordering cheapie resistance bands off the Internet, they improvised by using
water bottles filled with sand for hand weights. Instead of hopping on stair-
climbers, they climb actual stairs. A local restaurant offers lightened up
versions of its usual menu items and provides calorie counts, and the only
grocery store in town is adding healthier stuff to its shelves. At weekly weigh-
ins, everyone cheers each other on. And unlike the $250,000 grand prize
offered by TV's The Biggest Loser, these people are competing for six
hundred bucks and a fake pound of fat to signify the accomplishment.
Residents are shedding pounds, getting healthier, and coming together as a
community. How awesome and inspirational are they?! We can all learn A
LOT from these people. Like...

1. No matter where you live or how bad the economy gets, you can ALWAYS
find ways to get physical activity in.

2. It's easier to lose weight if you're doing it with buddies. So seek out pals
with similar goals and give each other support.

3. It doesn't take a chance at winning a quarter-million bucks to get
motivated. Setting up mini rewards can be effective, too.

Here at HG, since we're so inspired by this story, we've decided to donate
some HG cookbooks and other weight-loss resources to the Fossil
community. For more info about the Fossil folks, click here!

The Buzz...

We are sad to report that Lightfull Foods -- the company that makes those
super-delicious Satiety Smoothies -- is going out of business. If you're a fan
of the smoothies, head on over to Amazon to grab some at a discounted
rate, while supplies last. ***Hey, looking to meet up with people for reasons
other than dating? Need someone to make guilt-free recipes with? Want a
hiking buddy? Check out, a brand-new website that hooks
people up for (you guessed it!) reasons OTHER than dating. It's not PACKED
with members yet, since it's so new, but you and the rest of the HGers can
help change that. ***Have an idea for a coffee drink or food item you'd like
to see at Starbucks? Go to and mouth off. While you're
there, demand that The 'Bucks start offering fat-free whipped topping for its
bevs. There's strength in numbers, people! ***Keep an eye out for a WHOLE
SLEW of all-new Weight Watchers snacks on store shelves. We've
spied the new Chocolate Brownies (120 calories, 3.5g fat, and a POINTS®
value of 2 each) and Peanut Butter Soft Cookies (90 calories, 3g fat, and a
POINTS® value of 1 each). And yes, the PB cookies are safe to chew (not
included in the PB recall). We can't WAIT to sink our teeth into the Double
W's new Ice Cream Candy Bars (150 calories and a POINTS® value of 3
each). Mmmmmm! That's all we've got. HG out!
