ASK HUNGRY GIRL

Hi, Hungry Girl!

Last year sometime, I printed a sheet out that had several recipes for
Starbucks swaps. They were for Frappuccino-ish drinks you spoke about on
the TV show Extra. I lost the recipes and would appreciate your help. I can't
seem to find the info on the site and I am sad! Thanks!

Love My Fraps

Dear Love My Fraps,

Don't be sad; I'm here to help! When we put up pages that feature the foods
from my Extra segments, those pages aren't archived on the site (with the
rest of the emails). Usually, they just go away forever. So here's a link to the
page featuring all of those great Starbucks swap recipes. And here's a link to
the actual Extra segment, in case anyone missed it when it aired last year. If
you're looking for more Starbucks tips, check out this survival guide I put
together for Yahoo!. And if you're looking to try something new and delicious
at The 'Bucks, try a Cinnamon Dolce Latte (CDL). Remember to order a Tall
with sugar-free syrup, nonfat milk and no whip, and it'll have just 90 calories!

What are my best bets when it comes to Chinese food? I love it!

Wok On!

Dear Wok On,

I love Chinese food, too. Too much! And Chinese food can be your best
friend or your worst enemy. I always start off a Chinese meal with some
soup. A typical small bowl of egg drop, won ton or hot & sour soup will only
add about 100 calories to your meal, and it fills you up. Next, I recommend
ordering dishes that aren't breaded, fried or coated in flour. Stick with simple
meats, veggies, shrimp, etc. and order them steamed with the sauce on the
side. Then dip - don't pour (NEVER pour)! Dishes like moo goo gai pan,
steamed dumplings, chicken & bean sprouts, shrimp with mixed vegetables,
etc. are all pretty reasonable choices. Lo mein, Egg Foo Yung, Kung Pao
pork, etc. are dishes that can easily contain at least 1,000 calories. Need a
few more pointers? I recommend avoiding crispy noodles at all costs, and
skipping rice if you can. Also, use chopsticks. I say that because if you're
anything like me (somewhat spazzy), you'll eat more slowly and likely
consume less food if you eat with chopsticks. Oh, and there's no need to
avoid fortune cookies. With only 25-30 calories each (and no fat), they're a
great way to end your meal. For even more Chinese food tips, click here!
