Cookie Alert!

Warning! If you're one of the thousands of people who are obsessed with
those Rising Dough cookies sold at Jamba Juice (you know, the HUGE soft,
delicious ones, most of which supposedly have 70 - 100 calories per serving
and 140 - 200 calories for the entire cookie?!), then READ THIS CAREFULLY.
Our pals over at Good Housekeeping magazine had five of the Oatmeal
Cranberry Raisin ones tested, only to find that instead of having the 140
calories and next to no fat that the package claims, each one had just over
300 calories and 6 grams of fat. YIKES!!!! Although they only had one flavor
tested, we are obviously VERY skeptical about the entire cookie line now, so
eat these at your own risk (or don't eat them at all). This is yet another
frightening example of how some companies are taking advantage of
consumers. Are we the only ones who are APPALLED by how little the FDA
does to stop this sort of behavior and hold these companies accountable?

HG + Oprah = Fun Times!

While visiting Chicago last week for the big food show (FMI), we were lucky
enough to score tickets to The Oprah Winfrey Show (thanks to an HG
subscriber who also happens to work on the show!). Since most of you may
never get the chance to go see Oprah live, we wanted to give you the inside
scoop. Oprah is beautiful, extremely down-to-earth and focused, and she's
very funny! The studio is WAY smaller and more intimate than you would
imagine (it holds about 300 - 350 people). And everyone who works on the
show is extremely professional and super-nice. The two shows we saw
featured the ever-popular and brilliant Dr. Oz (co-author of the bestselling
book You: On a Diet). Dr. Oz and Oprah chatted it up about everything from
fiber and flavonoids to tapeworms and bunions. Dr. Oz ROCKS and these
shows are definitely worth watching, so keep checking Oprah.com to see
when they'll air and you just might see us waving to the camera.

Up-and-Coming Food Finds!

We spied and tried all of these at the FMI show last week...

Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt - If you're a fan of Fage Total 0% Greek Yogurt
but have trouble finding it, you'll be happy to know that there's a new fat-
free Greek yogurt in town, brought to us by our friends at Stonyfield Farm!

Curves Chewy Granola Bars - 100-calorie snack bars from General Mills &
Curves. A delicious no-brainer snack. Two yums up (for both the strawberry
and the chocolate flavors) and they're pretty low in calories for a snack bar.

Diet Coke Plus - Vitamin-infused Diet Coke? Clearly thousands of you have
tasted it already, but we had our first sip last week. It's very Diet Coke-y but
slightly sweeter and not quite as bubbly. We'll stick with Coke Zero and a
vitamin, but for those of you who need an excuse to drink diet soda, this
could be it.

Sipahh Straws - These straws come in a slew of yummy flavors. The concept
is brilliant: Small flavor beads inside the straw melt and make your milk (or
other beverage) taste like chocolate, strawberry, banana, or cookies &
cream. The best part? Each straw only adds 15 calories to your drink, which
is why it's great for moms, kids, and dieters!

**We also got some gossip from Lean Cuisine's Chef Andy. He told us there
would be at least one new Panini added to the line soon. That's all the info we
were able to squeeze out of him though. More soon!

The Buzz...

Look! Diet Pepsi got an extreme makeover. Check out the new can. Pretty
slick -- but not quite as A-dorable as the Diet Coke Plus can (which we're
mesmerized by). ***If you shop at Whole Foods you may want to check out
their brand-new online cooking show, "Secret Ingredient". It'll feature easy
recipes and tips that incorporate ingredients found at Whole Foods stores.
Click to see it. ***Obsessed with fiber (like so many of us are these days)?
Check out nationalfibercouncil.org for the fiber 411. You'll find charts, myths
& facts, quiz questions and more.***Just a reminder that you have until May
25th to enter the Dreyer's/Edy's Slow Churned Neighborhood Salute contest
and win one of 1,500 ice cream parties for your neighborhood! If you win,
you'll feed guilt-free ice cream to up to 100 of your friends & neighbors, so
go for it! That's all we've got. HG out!
