ASK HUNGRY GIRL

Dear Hungry Girl,

Can you tell us a little bit about your NEXT book? I love the first book. Will
your second one be similar or different? Spill it!

SO Curious

Dear SO Curious,

Thank you! I'm SO glad you like the first HG book! I'm not sure why I
haven't let out any info about the next book -- it's not really a huge secret or
anything. I guess now is as good of a time as any to give you the details...
so here goes. The next book will be called (drumroll, please...) Hungry Girl
200 Under 200: 200 Recipes Under 200 Calories. And, as you've probably
guessed, it will contain 200 recipes that have less than 200 calories each. It'll
be similar to the first book in some ways (full nutritionals, easy directions,
recommended products, and lots of fun facts), but it will also differ in some
ways (more recipes, more pictures, and some fun surprises!). I'm thrilled to
say, the book is finished! All 200 recipes have been developed -- and they
are all FANTASTIC. We just shipped the book off to Jen, our fantastic editor
over at St. Martin's Press, earlier this week. I am SO excited about this book
I can hardly stand it. Over 100 of the recipes are BRAND-NEW! There are
entire chapters devoted to cupcakes, scrambles, mini-meals, desserts, and
more! The release date for the book is April 14th, 2009. Also, I'll be going on
another book tour (fun!). That's all for now. Thanks for the Q -- now I'm all
revved up about the next book! AHHHHHHHHH!

HG,

Do you have any tips for ordering cocktails while out? And let's assume I
forget to take Crystal Light packets with me. Oh, and I hate wine and light
beer. Also, have you actually tasted the Brothers-All-Natural Potato Crisps? I
think they are horrible!

Opinionated in Ohio

Dear Opinionated,

WOW, you really ARE opinionated! That's cool, though -- no worries. I realize
not everyone remembers (or wants) to take sugar-free drink mix packets
with them when they go out for drinks -- I don't really do it too often, either.
I'm not a big drinker anyway, but when I do want a cocktail, here's what I
do. I order a fruit-flavored vodka with club soda and a splash of fruit juice. If
they have fruit (orange slices, pineapple chunks, etc.), I'll ask for a piece of
fruit in my drink. This way you get flavor from the vodka, fruit, and the
splash of fruit juice -- which doesn't amount to very many calories at all --
and the club soda is calorie-free. I estimate one of these drinks clocks in with
no more than 120 calories and a POINTS® value of 2*. Some of my favorite
combos for this soda-based drink are blueberry vodka with pineapple juice,
raspberry vodka with cranberry juice, and lemon vodka with orange juice. All
good! Just remember to ask for club soda (tonic has calories!) and only a
splash of juice. Now, as for part two of your question -- YES, I have tried
Brothers-All-Natural Potato Crisps. I've written about them several times
before and have been honest about the fact that while I LOVE 'em (they taste
like instant mashed potatoes -- yum!), I don't think they're for everyone. I
believe I have pretty universal taste buds and can usually tell when a
product is going to be loved by the masses. This is NOT one of those
products. Again, I personally LOVE them, but a lot of people think they're too
dry and less exciting than other low-calorie potato chip/crisp options. But
remember, a serving has just 45 calories and NO FAT. Try 'em for yourself
and see what you think. If you've already tried them, click here to take a
little pop-up poll and let me know if you like them. Have fun!
