Spotted on Shelves...

The Skinny Cow Truffle Bars - Yeah, we know it's cold outside... blah, blah,
blah... but we spotted these and got VERY excited. In both Chocolate and
French Vanilla, these chunky ice cream bars are beautifully drizzled with
chocolate. Each bar has just 100 calories, 2g fat, 12 - 19g carbs, 3g fiber,
and 3g protein (POINTS® value 2*). Turn up the heat and enjoy them all
year round.

Del Monte SuperFruit - Check out all three flavors of these new antioxidant-
packed fruit cups, people -- Mixed Fruit Chunks in Mango Passion Fruit Juice,
Peach Chunks in Pomegranate Orange Juice, and Pear Chunks in Acaí
Blackberry Juice. They sound all fancy-schmancy but they're just low-key
fruit in natural juice. Each 8-oz. container has about two 1/2-cup servings,
with 60 - 70 calories, 0g fat, 15 - 18g carbs, 2g fiber, and 1g protein per
serving (POINTS® value 1*). Oooh, and click here for a coupon. Sweet!

Quaker Oatmeal Pancake Mix - Oatmeal flavor and whole-grain goodness in
your pancakes! Worth checking out if you're pancake-obsessed. A 1/3-cup
serving of the mix alone (about two 4-inch pancakes' worth) has 150
calories, 2g fat, 31g carbs, 4g fiber, and 5g protein (POINTS® value 2*).
Bonus -- the directions on the box use fat-free ingredients (skim milk and
egg whites). Save even more calories by using Unsweetened Vanilla Almond
Breeze instead of skim.

Things to Never EVER Feed Your Dog...

We're always giving you the lowdown on what we think you should chew and
what we think you should avoid. Well, we decided to change it up a bit and
give you some super-helpful info about foods your DOG should never
swallow... not because they're fattening, but because they can be
DANGEROUS.

1. Grapes and Raisins. Contain a toxin that can cause kidney damage.

2. Bread Dough and Yeast. Can expand in the digestive system and cause
severe damage.

3. Chewing Gum. Sugar-free gum sweetened with xylitol can be deadly.
(Same goes for any food containing xylitol.)

4. Macadamia Nuts. Can upset the digestive and nervous systems.

5. Chocolate. Contains caffeine and theobromine, which affect the heart and
nervous system and can be toxic.

6. Onions and Onion Powder. Contain sulfoxides and disulfides, which can
damage red blood cells and cause anemia. (P.S. Keep garlic out of reach for
the same reason.)

We're MAJOR animal-lovers here at HG. So while we're on the subject...
Remember to spay or neuter your pet, and if you're looking to add a furry
friend to your household, please consider adoption. Visit local animal shelters
or check out petfinder.com.

Stuff You Didn't Know You Needed...

Mix N' Stir Liquid Mixing Pitcher by The Carefree Kitchen - Know how you
make a pitcher of some drink and all kinds of stuff settles to the bottom? This
snazzy item will change your life (or at least your pitchered beverages). It's
got propeller action that stirs things up and keeps your liquids properly
mixed with just a few pumps. Fantastic!

The Original Perfect Pizza Sectional Slicing Pan - If you're obsessive and
want to make pizza in evenly sized slices, get a load of this pan. It's
sectioned so you can bake up a pizza in perfectly portioned slices. It also
allows you to customize each slice, so your pepperoni-loving pal can enjoy
her (or his) favorite topping, while your meat-loathing friend has nothing to
worry about. If you are, however, the person who reaches for the BIG slice
and pretends "a slice is a slice," this kitchen gadget may bum you out.

Cupcake Dental Floss - Protect your gums and kick a cupcake craving all at
once! This waxed floss tastes like FROSTING. What's next? Cookie dough
toothpaste? (Mmmmmm!)

HG Heads Up! In Friday's email we featured grapefruit recipes, tips, and
tricks. Grapefruit juice can affect the potency of several kinds of medication,
increasing the strength of the drug up to 4 times and raising the risk of side
effects and accidental overdose. So if you're on any medication, ask your
doctor about that, and be careful!
