Hungry Girl Today: 5.04.09

Spotted on Shelves...

Frank's RedHot Wings Sauce in Sweet Heat BBQ - If you love hot sauce and
BBQ sauce, you will FLIP over this stuff. A tbsp. has 20 calories, no fat, and
5g carbs (POINTS® value 0*). We've tried it, and we LIKE it. BTW, while it's
definitely not low in sodium, it does have about half as much sodium as
original Frank's.

Dreyer's/Edy's Slow Churned Snack Size Cups - Our favorite light ice cream
has jumped on the mini-carton bandwagon. In Chocolate, Mint Chocolate
Chip, and Vanilla Bean, these 6-oz. containers have about 60% more ice
cream than a standard half-cup serving. A great option if, like us, you can't
be trusted around the huge cartons. The Vanilla Bean and Chocolate each
have 150 - 170 calories, 5 - 6g fat, 23 - 25g carbs, 0 - 1g fiber, and 4 - 5g
protein (POINTS® value 3 - 4*). The Mint Chocolate Chip has higher stats
and a POINTS® value of 5*.

Annie Chun's Udon Soup Bowl - We don't usually go for bowls of starchy
noodles, but this soup is a keeper. The noodles are chewy (in a good udon-y
way), and the soup is full of flavor. Half a bowl has 110 calories, 0.5g fat,
22g carbs, 1g fiber and 3g protein (POINTS® value 2*). Totally worth the
220-calorie price tag for the whole thing.

New Restaurant Entrees Alert, Create the Next No-Guilt Chip, and 100-
Calorie Beer...

Guilt-Free Kebabs at Romano's Macaroni Grill?! - There's not a whole lot on
the Macaroni Grill menu that's guilt-free, so these new skewered meals --
called Spiedini -- are a welcome addition. Choose from chicken or jumbo
shrimp grilled on rosemary skewers and served with roasted veggies. Fancy!
The Shrimp Spiedini entree has 330 calories and 9g fat (POINTS® value 7*),
the Chicken one has 425 calories and 12g fat (POINTS® value 9*), and both
are packed with fiber. Not bad. There's a beef version, too, but sadly the
stats aren't impressive AT ALL. Anyone out there tried these? If so, let us
know what you think!

Miller Chill Beer Joins the 100-Calorie Club - This light, lime-flavored lager
was recently reformulated and now has just 100 calories per 12-oz. bottle.
Not a HUGE difference from the 110-calorie version, but exciting nonetheless.
It also has just 4 carbs, which is about half the amount in competitor Bud
Light Lime. Find it at stores across the country in pretty new packaging. Just
in time for Cinco de Mayo (a.k.a. TOMORROW)!

What's Your Flavor? - The makers of Baked Classics know good guilt-free
potato crisps. Now they're in search of the next great flavor, and they want
your ideas. So get creative and suggest your fantasy chip flavor. (Ours is
pickle-ketchup-and-mustard.) You'll automatically be entered in a weekly
drawing for a chance to win a case of Baked Classics and a $25 gift card.
Good luck, and may all your potato-chip dreams come true!

The Buzz...

***Inhalable calorie-free chocolate?! Yup! The makers of Le Whif (yes, that's
really the name) are banking on the fact that people will be just as satisfied
BREATHING in their chocolate as they are eating it. It comes in four
breathably delicious flavors -- including mango chocolate and mint chocolate.
A 6-pack of Whifs goes for about $13. We're not about to trade in our
chocolate VitaTops, but we're definitely curious... ***Here's an alarming stat.
Only 60% of Americans bother to check their homes for potentially
contaminated products after hearing about a food recall. That means 40% of
you are ignoring warnings about foods you may have at home that could
make you and/or your family very sick. So pay attention and take action,
everyone... this info is VERY important. Click here for our favorite site on this
very subject. ***TCBY is giving out FREE fro yo on Mother's Day (this
Sunday)!!! Grab your favorite mom (which could be yourself!) and head to a
participating TCBY location. Every mom will be treated to a free cup or cone.
How COOL! (Literally.) ***Thanks to our recession-savvy pals at Subway ($5
Footlongs ring a bell?), a price-slashing war among chain restaurants has
begun. Check out the 10 Under $7 menu at Chili's, $5 sandwiches & salads at
T.G.I. Friday's, and The Cheesecake Factory's Small Plates & Snacks menu.
It IS possible to save cash AND calories, but you may want to make some
special requests when ordering. That's all we've got. HG out!
