***ATTENTION TEXT-ONLY HG SUBSCRIBERS (this means YOU!): Since only
a tiny fraction of our audience receives our emails in text-only form, and the
emails look so much better designed in HTML, we have decided to stop
sending out the text-only versions of Hungry Girl newsletters. This change
will happen in the very near future. Keep an eye out for the HTML versions in
your inbox... coming soon!***
This is the text version of Hungry Girl.

Hungry Girl Today: 5.28.10
Memorial Day is almost here, and that means picnics, vacations, beach days,
and BBQs are all right around the corner. Don't fall into the habit of
inhaling everything you see! Take a few tips from our guide to surviving
summer eating...
Water Yourself!
We're not telling you to hose off... DRINK things. Everyone knows it's
important to stay hydrated when it's hot out, but sipping plain water 24/7
can be plain boring. So keep a stash of powdered drink mix packets on hand
for thirsty emergencies. We heart the kinds by Crystal Light (did you know
they also make naturally sweetened mixes now?) and AriZona. As for at-home
options, check out this nifty fruit-infusing pitcher... or just add fruit
to any water jug!
Fire Up the Grill!
Don't wait for a big party to do some direct-heat cooking! Grilling can be
a really great way to whip up flavor-packed food that's completely
guilt-free... as long as you don't drown your stuff in oil! Spray the grill
grate with nonstick spray (BEFORE you power up the heat source!) or wrap
your goodies in well-spritzed foil packets. Want to make super-easy BBQ
food for a cookout? Marinate some boneless, skinless lean chicken breasts
overnight in barbeque sauce (with about 45 calories per 2-tbsp. serving),
and they'll be ready for the grill when you are. And don't forget those
fruits and veggies -- they're great on skewers, in wraps, and even straight
off the plate. Grilled pineapple + lean or meatless burgers = AMAZING!
Chill Out!
Although getting a workout chasing the ice cream truck DOES sound tempting,
stocking your own icebox is a much better way to go. Sugar Free Popsicles
are pretty classic, and Edy's/Dreyer's Fruit Bars ROCK. (New flavors alert!
Pineapple, Pomegranate, and Acai Blueberry!) Even straight-up frozen fruit
is great to snack on (grapes work best!); but if you buy the freezy
packaged kind, make sure there isn't any added sugar or syrup. Looking for
a real ice cream fix? Try the fat-free stuff from Breyers, Edy's/Dreyer's
Slow Churned Light tubs, and the awesome offerings from The Skinny Cow. And
for a crazy-low-calorie find you could consume by the pint (if you wanted
to!), seek out Arctic Zero -- full of protein, free of fat, and
surprisingly good!
