***ATTENTION TEXT-ONLY HG SUBSCRIBERS (this means YOU!): Since only
a tiny fraction of our audience receives our emails in text-only form, and the
emails look so much better designed in HTML, we have decided to stop
sending out the text-only versions of Hungry Girl newsletters. This change
will happen in the very near future. Keep an eye out for the HTML versions in

Spotted on Shelves...

Garden Lites All-Natural Frozen Soufflés - Stop whatever you're doing/eating
and pay attention! These freezer-aisle veggie soufflés are SUPER tasty, come
in AMAZING varieties, and have GREAT stats. Each 7-oz. soufflé has 140 -
180 calories, 0 - 1.5g fat, 45 - 390mg sodium, 22 - 43g carbs, 2 - 5g fiber, 5 -
14g sugars, and 5 - 11g protein (POINTS® value 2 - 3*). There are also
larger fresh soufflés with 60 - 70 cals per 3-oz. serving. Look for 'em at
Publix, Wegmans, A&P, Safeway, Whole Foods, Costco, Winn-Dixie, Stop &
Shop, and Ralphs. Worth tracking down...

Splenda No Calorie Sweetener with Fiber, Granulated - First there were
packets with fiber, and now check this out: It's the zero-calorie granulated
stuff that's fantastic for recipes and measures scoop-for-scoop like real
sugar... but with fiber! Every teaspoon of this brand-new addition to the
Splenda line has a gram of fiber. So if you're always looking to sneak a little
bonus fiber into your life, try it out!

Oh Boy! Oberto Southern Style BBQ Pork Jerky - "Oh Boy" is right! Jerky is
always good as a protein-packed snack on the go, but add a BBQ kick and
you've got one SERIOUS treat. A 1-oz. serving (about a third of the pouch)
has 90 calories, 2.5g fat, 550mg sodium, 7g carbs, 0g fiber, 6g sugars, and
10g protein (POINTS® value 2*). Find it, chew it, love it.

Snack Food on the Vend!

It's great that school cafeterias are getting revamped -- displaying calorie
counts and offering healthier items -- but what about those junk-food-filled
vending machines? A recent study found that students of all ages consume
things like candy, cookies, and soda from vending machines on a regular
basis. Luckily, a few schools are wising up and giving their snack dispensers
a guilt-free makeover! We recently buzzed about a marketing plan to
package baby carrots in cute little bags like chips... Now a couple of schools
in New York and Ohio have all-carrot vending machines dispensing the
snacks with surprising success. Del Monte just penned a distribution deal for
its fruit-n-veggie snack machines. And the Cincinnati Public Schools system
is setting guidelines for acceptable vending-machine treats, limiting the
snacks' calories, fat, sugars, etc. YES! In sort-of-but-not-really-related news,
have you heard about the Coca-Cola Happiness Machine? It looks like a
normal Coke machine... until it starts spitting out bottle after bottle of free
soda and literally handing out flower bouquets, Twister games, and multi-
serving sandwiches. So if you see a Coke machine with human hands
emerging from it, don't panic. It's not possessed; it's just happy.
Trends in Vending...

Look! Cute Things!
Stuff You Didn't Know You Needed!

Looking for some fun new food-related items? Check out our latest picks...
John Derian for Target Melamine Apple Salad Plate Set - Plates that look like
apples? SO CUTE! Plus, you get eight plates in a set for only $20. Eat food off
them or hang 'em on the wall for decoration -- they're versatile like that.

The Baggler - Carrying tons of grocery bags that are cutting into your hand
as you attempt to lug them all in one trip is definitely NOT FUN. (We all do it.)
This little gizmo lets you hook three bags onto an easy-to-carry handle for a
more comfortable grocery-hauling experience. (However, we're unsure how
plastic hooks would fare when it comes to our massive loads of groceries at
the HG HQ!)

Amazing Coffee Clip and Spoon in ONE! - This contraption is SUCH a smart
idea. Use it to scoop your coffee grounds into the coffeemaker (or your
beans into the grinder), and THEN use it to clip your bag o' coffee closed!
Your remaining coffee will stay put, your cabinet will be mess-free, and you'll
always be able to find your scoop! As Keurig K-Cup fans, we actually don't
need this item... but we think it'd be super handy for bagged-coffee lovers!

The Buzz...

Coming in December, a whole new set of reasons to love Amy's! The Light &
Lean line will feature frozen meals with under 300 calories and 5g fat or less
a pop. We got a sneak chew, and we're in love (especially with the 250-
calorie Spinach Lasagna). Go, Amy, go! ***Want salad plus a little something
on the side? Check out the new Pick 2 deal at Wendy's: You can pair a half-
sized salad with one of seven items (like chili or a chicken wrap) for $4.99.
We love options AND bargains! ***A couple of super-cool personal trainers
from Chicago are taking on childhood obesity. Their vision is to launch a TV
show called The Bod Squad, which will teach kids fun facts about the human
body and keep them active at the same time. This is no couch-potato
program! Click here to watch a webisode. And to learn more and possibly
help 'em raise money for their cause, click here! ***If you're the type that
would rather sleep than exercise, take this into consideration: A recent study
found that regular aerobic exercise could help you sleep better. Researchers
found that physical activity improved sleep quality, overall mood, and vitality
in the mostly women test group. Who's up for a jog... followed by a nap?
That's all we've got. HG out!
