GIRLS BITE OUT

We sipped and chewed some breakfast-y items. Now we're telling all...

Kashi Vive - Probiotic Digestive Wellness Cereal
(1.25 cups: 170 calories, 2.5g fat, 100mg sodium, 43g carbs, 12g fiber, 10g
sugars, 4g protein = 3 Points)

They Say: At Kashi, we believe that good digestive health puts you on the
path to your best life. And you know there is more to it than eating adequate
amounts of fiber. That’s why we created Kashi® Vive™ with lots of fiber,
probiotic bacteria and specially chosen ingredients to help you care for your
digestive system and enhance your joie de vivre!

We Say: Forget all the digestive mumbo jumbo. This cereal ROCKS. Yes, it
is CRAMMED with an insane amount of fiber (12 grams per serving), and it
contains those probiotics (friendly bacteria) that promote digestive balance
and immunity. And it has ginger (which also helps with digestion) and
broccoli extract (complete with phytonutrients that help with your liver's
cleansing ability). But honestly, the real reason we dig this stuff is because
of how delicious it tastes! There are like a zillion different tastes and textures
in every bite -- cinnamon, graham, vanilla, crunchiness, puffiness,
flakiness...wow! This is cereal insanity in the best way possible. It's also
perfectly sweetened and doesn't taste boring in any way (even your kids
would eat it!). Also, the 1 1/4 cup serving size is bigger than most cereal
servings, so you really get your calories worth.

Overall Score: 10. We are officially HOOKED. And our intestines couldn't be
happier.

Lipton Premium Pyramid Tea Bags; Vanilla Caramel Truffle
(1 tea bag: 0 calories, 0g fat, 0mg sodium, 0g carbs, 0g fiber, 0g sugars, 0g
protein = 0 Points)

They Say: A perfectly sweet indulgence. Delicate vanilla blends beautifully
with pieces of real caramel and the taste of rich chocolate truffles.

We Say: The packaging of this tea is great, we love the name, and the little
pyramid bags are really cute. And when we found out that there were little
pieces of caramel floating around in there, we nearly exploded with
excitement. Then we tasted it, and while it's good, it's just not all it's built up
to be. It's hard to taste the vanilla flavor over the black tea, and those
caramel pieces add some flavor but not tons. We like this tea, but it's
actually not as good as Lipton's plain old french vanilla.

Overall Score: 7. It's a solid tea, but it won't change your life.

Dannon Activia Yogurt; Prune
(1 4-oz. container: 110 calories, 2g fat, 75mg sodium, 19g carbs, 0g fiber,
17g sugars, 5g protein = 2 Points)

They Say: Activia® is a great-tasting lowfat yogurt from Dannon® that
contains Bifidus Regularis™, a natural probiotic culture that can help regulate
your digestive system by helping reduce long intestinal transit time.

We Say: Hmmm..."helping reduce long intestinal transit time." Why
sugarcoat it, Dannon? Tell it like it is. Even if you don't need help in that
department, this stuff may be worth checking out. We singled out the prune
flavor because we hadn't ever seen prune yogurt before and were almost
scared to try it, but it tastes AWESOME. You'd never even know it was prune
flavor; it tastes more like plums or delicious berries. Granted, we don't
typically opt for yogurt that helps aid digestion, so we would likely grab a fat-
free lower-calorie yogurt over this one on any given day. But still, this stuff
is GOOD!

Overall Score: 8. Not bad, and if we needed digestive assistance our score
would be higher.

Quaker Instant Oatmeal Crunch; Apples & Cinnamon
(1 packet: 190 calories, 2.5g fat, 170mg sodium, 39g carbs, 4g fiber, 16g
sugars, 4g protein = 3 Points)

They Say: Quaker Instant Oatmeal Crunch Apples & Cinnamon is a hot,
wholesome oatmeal that is filled with the sweet, delicious flavor of apples
sprinkled with cinnamon and crunchy, toasty clusters that pack a crunchy
punch!

We Say: We've gotta hand it to Quaker; they never run out of ideas when it
comes to oatmeal. Quaker Instant Oatmeal Crunch, the latest in their ever-
expanding line of oats, features packets of just-add-water-and-nuke oatmeal
with separate packets of crunchy clusters to put on top. A cute idea, for
sure, especially if you're trying to get your kids to eat oatmeal. For most of
us, though, it's just added calories and the temptation to eat all the little
crunch-nugget packets in one sitting. The apple cinnamon flavor is great (as
always!), but the crunchies don't stay all that crunchy once they find their
way into the hot cereal. Not bad -- but nothing we're going to put into
regular rotation.

Overall Score: 7. We hear there's a "magicolor" version of this stuff, too.
Rainbow-colored flecks magically appearing in our bowl would have no doubt
bumped our score up a minimum of one point.
