What companies make sugar-free maple syrup? I cannot find it anywhere!
In Search of Syrup
Dear In Search,
Your search is OVER! Sooooo many companies make sugar-free maple syrup. Typically it sits right next to all the other syrups, but if you don't see it there, check the diet aisle or wherever the diabetic-friendly foods are stocked. Here are a few SF maple syrups that I love...
Cary's - AWESOME stuff with only 30 calories in each 1/4-cup serving.
Mrs. Butterworth's - GREAT, GREAT! And hers clocks in at 35 calories per 1/4 cup.
Log Cabin - Another delicious option that has only 35 calories per 1/4-cup serving.
A lot of people like Smucker's Sugar Free Breakfast Syrup, which has just 20 calories per 1/4 cup. I personally like the others better. BTW, when seeking out diet-friendly syrups, I recommend that you go for sugar-free ones that have between 30 and 35 calories per serving -- you get a nice size serving for a POINTS® value of 1. There are light (or lite, as they're sometimes called) ones that taste good but have about THREE TIMES as many calories. Then there are the SUPER-DUPER-LOW-CALORIE ones that have 0 - 15 calories per serving -- I'm not a fan of those at all. And if you need some delicious guilt-free recipes to go with all that syrup, click here for our blueberry pancakes, here for our cheese blintzes, and here for our loaded waffles. Happy syruping!!!
I love your daily emails. Regarding the HG pieces on Yahoo!... are they pretty much the same info we get in your daily newsletters, or should I be bookmarking them each time I see one? And where can I find them when they're not linked to on the Yahoo! homepage? Thanks! I'm always eager for some extra HG! Keep up the excellent, EXCELLENT work!
I Want More HG
Dear I Want More,
Thank you so much for your questions and VERY kind words! If you want more HG, here's some good news. The pieces on Yahoo! are completely different from the daily newsletters and exclusive to Yahoo!, so that means there's one NEW HG piece to read there each week. Just visit their Food section (food.yahoo.com), and look for blogs. Or you can just click here to go directly to the HG section. In addition, I write a weekly column on WeightWatchers.com, and that one is totally new and exclusive as well. New HG articles on WW are posted every Monday. And you can find more Hungry Girl stuff in issues of People StyleWatch and (coming soon!) in Seventeen magazine. There's also an HG book coming out in May, which I am totally excited about! It'll have a gazillion recipes -- HG classics as well as dozens and dozens of brand-new ones. Have a great Wednesday!
CHEW ON THIS: Tomorrow, December 13th, is National Cocoa Day. Traditional unsweetened cocoa is typically low in calories and can add lots of chocolatey flavor to your recipes. We're telling you about this today so you have time to stock up on the stuff!
Have a question for Hungry Girl? Send it in! She answers two new Qs each week (but cannot respond to emails personally).
