Healthy Target Food Finds: Paleo BBQ Chicken, Vegan Gluten-Free Quesadillas, Cacio e Pepe Mac & Cheese

Jun 22 2022

We're back at Target for another taste-testing haul! Today's highlights feature a couple of perennial favorite brands, plus a new company that left us impressed. Read up, and don't forget to listen to the new podcast episode for even more great picks…

Kevin's Natural Foods Paleo Pulled Chicken with a Sweet & Bold BBQ Sauce

We'll say it: Kevin has done it again. This is high-quality shredded chicken breast in a perfectly sweet & tangy sauce. Plus, it's paleo-certified, containing significantly less sugar than most BBQ-based saucy meats out there. We appreciate the hefty serving size too! Serve it up in a sandwich, over a salad, or alongside your favorite summer side dishes. Click to find it near you!

Tattooed Chef Plant Based Quesadillas

1 quesadilla: 270–320 calories, 11–15g total fat (8–9g sat. fat), 590–700mg sodium, 35–40g carbs, 8–10g fiber, 4–11g total sugars (<1–4g added sugars), 6–10g protein
WW PersonalPoints™ value 9–11*
Our BFF (that we’ve never actually met), the Tattooed Chef, just launched this new lineup. Pop one out of the freezer, heat it up, and you'll see… That's one incredible vegan quesadilla! We tried the Buffalo Chicken (featuring grain-free rice) and Al Pastor (with pineapple!) varieties, but there are Chorizo and Sweet Chili Chicken options out there too. They’re all gluten-free and made with grain-free tortillas! We found them in a huge freezer display of Mexican-style Tattooed Chef goodies at our local Target. (The Buffalo Chicken and Al Pastor varieties can also be found at Harris Teeter stores.)

Goodles Mover & Shaker Cacio E Pepe-Inspired Mac

2.6 oz. dry mix: 260 calories, 3.5g total fat (1.5g sat. fat), 650mg sodium, 46g carbs, 6g fiber, 3g total sugars (0g added sugars), 14g protein
WW PersonalPoints™ value 6*
Cacio e pepe (which means cheese & pepper in Italian) is all the rage right now, and the trend has finally made its way to mac & cheese! This cheesy, peppery spin on boxed mac has even more going on. It features lots of protein, fiber with prebiotics, real cheese, nutrients from plants, and no artificial flavors or preservatives. (Fun fact: Gal Gadot is a founding partner of the company!) Goodles has four other varieties with equally fun names—order from the Goodles website or find them at Target.
