Top Protein Picks of 2026 (So Far)

Jul 29 2026
Protein Power Month (aka July) is almost over, so it feels like a great time to look back at the best protein-powered food finds we tried on the Hungry Girl podcast in 2026. No need to wait till December to remind you how great these are…

Swoop High Protein Dessert

2/3 cup: 130–160 calories, 6–9g total fat (1–2.5g sat. fat), 75–85mg sodium, 13–14g carbs, 0–1g fiber, 10g total sugars (10g added sugars), 10g protein
WW Points® value 6–7*
Need an ice cream swap with additional protein and clean ingredients? Swoop, there it is! Both the Vanilla Surge and Peanut Butter Chip Blitz blew our minds, and we can’t wait to try the Chocolate Charge, Mighty Mint Chip, and Jumpin’ Java Chip flavors. A decadent frozen dessert made with whey protein isolate, coconut nectar, and avocado oil… That’s balance, baby! Click here to find it near you.

Applegate Naturals Egg, Chicken Sausage, Red Pepper, Onions & Spinach Frittata Bites

2 bites: 170 calories, 10g total fat (4.5g sat. fat), 540mg sodium, 7g carbs, 0g fiber, 1g total sugars (1g added sugars), 13g protein
WW Points® value 6*
No, we could never have too many heat-and-eat microwavable egg bite options. Applegate Naturals is one of those brands that we always pay attention to when they drop new goodies, and these are more than worthy. The 100% natural egg bites are full of veggies and chicken sausage and ready in microwave minutes, straight out of the freezer. Eat on their own, or pop one on an English muffin for an easy sandwich. Eggo Protein Waffles

2 waffles: 170–190 calories, 4.5–6g total fat (1.5–2g sat. fat), 290–300mg sodium, 22–26g carbs, <1–2g fiber, 7–11g total sugars (6–11g added sugars), 10g protein
WW Points® value 6–7*
We featured these waffles on the first podcast of 2026, so you know they’re good if they’re still on our minds seven months later! We love the classic Buttermilk Vanilla, but who would turn up their nose at the Blueberry, Strawberry Delight, and Chocolate Chip Brownie varieties? Not us.

Super Pretzel Soft Pretzels Protein

1 plain pretzel: 180 calories, 2.5g total fat (0g sat. fat), 430mg sodium, 29g carbs, 1g fiber, 1g total sugars (0g added sugars), 10g protein
WW Points® value 5*
And finally, here’s one from our most recent podcast (before today’s episode, that is)! We grabbed these frozen pretzels from ALDI, but they’re also sold at other select US retailers. Infused with pea protein and wheat gluten, each pretzel has 10g protein with no weird protein-y taste. The salt comes on the side, so you can add only what you want. They cook up perfectly in the air fryer!
