Frozen Green Chile Chicken Bowl, Seed & Almond Cookie Bars, Salted Caramel Baking Chips

Jan 31 2024
Time to return to one of our very favorite grocery stores… Trader Joe’s! We did our first TJ’s haul of 2024 for the Hungry Girl podcast, and it was OUTSTANDING. Read up on three of the best food finds we tasted from the batch, and update your shopping list.

Trader Joe’s Green Chile Chicken Bowl

1 bowl: 320 calories, 9g total fat (3.5g sat. fat), 780mg sodium, 38g carbs, 1g fiber, <1g total sugars (0g added sugars), 22g protein
WW Points® value 10*
The second we got a whiff of this dish, we knew it was something special! This frozen bowl is legitimately one of the best TJ’s finds we’ve tried in a long time. The topping is nice and crispy, and the whole thing tastes like a green enchilada. You get cilantro-seasoned rice topped with shredded dark-meat chicken, cheddar cheese, and green chile sauce. The bowl appears to have dropped back in summer ’23, so fingers crossed that it’ll stick around (pleaseohpleaseohplease)!

Trader Joe’s Five Seed Almond Bars

1 bar: 100 calories, 4g total fat (1.5g sat. fat), 100mg sodium, 16g carbs, <1g fiber, 8g total sugars (6g added sugars), 2g protein
WW Points® value 5*
This find was SO unexpected, and we’re in love! These bars are stocked in the cookie section, and they look a lot like biscotti… BUT WAIT. The texture is soft instead of crunchy, like a cake-esque granola bar! Studded with flax, poppy, sunflower, sesame, and pumpkin seeds, they are spiced up almost like gingerbread. A PERFECT pairing with a cup of coffee or tea.

Trader Joe’s Caramel Sea Salt Baking Chips

1 tbsp.: 80 calories, 4g total fat (3.5g sat. fat), 65mg sodium, 10g carbs, 0g fiber, 10g total sugars (10g added sugars), 0g protein
WW Points® value 5*
This is another absolute WOW item. These baking chips really taste like caramel! The flavor feels super gourmet and authentic, something other brands don’t always nail. We can’t wait to melt some to drizzle over fruit. If you see these in stores, snap up a bag or two; it’s a seasonal variety, and those don’t stick around forever!

HG FYI: Trader Joe’s stock varies by location… You might want to call your local TJ’s before shopping to confirm availability.
