I’m a teacher, and I get super hungry around 3pm. What are some energizing protein snacks I can keep in my desk for a quick pick-me-up?

Thanks!

First off, YAY, teachers rule! Secondly, I relate—even without a roomful of kiddos wearing me out, the afternoon slump is REAL. You're smart to want protein, and since you specifically asked for picks to keep in your desk, I'll stick to shelf-stable options only. (Sure, yogurts and cheeses are great, but if you don't want to tote a cooler bag to work, I'm not going to make you!)

Bars with a Boost

Bars with protein are a no-brainer because they're so convenient! I have MANY favorites. Here are a few of my top selections for extra energy, including a ball-not-bar standout…

Jerkies & More Shelf-Stable Meats

Dried meat snacks have come a LONG way from being mere survivalist food. Now there are even meat-free jerky options! And while I love tuna pouches, chicken is a great no-smell alternative.

Bean-Based Crunchy Snacks

There are soooo many amazing bean snacks out there! The protein is a bit lower than the above picks, but they also pack fiber, which can help cancel out the mid-afternoon hungries.

By the way, in addition to these protein snacks, I also love almonds (like Daily Crunch Sprouted Almonds) and snacks with caffeine (like GummiShots Energy Gummies and Nudge Coffee Bombs)!

Power up & happy snacking!

Chew on this:

FYI, May is National Burger Month! Don't mind if we do… Who's up for a Mac Attack Burger Bowl?

Pass the snacks—your pals need some new finds for their stashes, too!
