Don’t write off cottage cheese as nothing more than old-school diet food! Though cottage cheese with fruit is a mainstay of many a diner menu, there are a multitude of ways to enjoy it. Here are a few reasons we keep low-fat cottage cheese in our fridge at all times…

Ways to Eat It

As a Breakfast Bowl Base: Load up your CC with fresh fruit, chopped nuts, some cereal… maybe even a drizzle of sugar-free pancake syrup! (Did you know there are all-natural varieties?) For a whipped texture, blend your cottage cheese with fruit and sweetener! And don’t be afraid to make it a savory morning meal: Top with chopped tomatoes, fresh basil, a drizzle of olive oil, and some freshly cracked pepper.

Whisked Into Eggs: Not only does this add more protein to an already protein-loaded dish, but it also makes the eggs turn out extra delicious and creamy. Add to scrambles, omelettes, frittatas, and more!

In a Smoothie: Yogurt is yummy blended into smoothies, and so is cottage cheese! The slight saltiness adds dimension to the overall flavor. Speaking of blending: Go savory, and add to soup!

As a Dip or Spread: Just flavor the cottage cheese with your choice of seasonings and add-ins. For example, add hot sauce and garlic powder. Heat it in the microwave for a hot & cheesy treat, or blend the curds ‘n whey until smooth for a cool & creamy spreadable cheese dip.

Tossed with Noodles: Add meatless protein to your pasta-style dish with a scoop of cottage cheese! People put it into lasagna all the time, so why not? Our top pairing suggestion: cottage cheese + spaghetti squash + marinara.
