Healthy Recipes with Wonton Wrappers: Wonton Cups, Air-Fryer Dumplings & More

Jun 11 2021
Today, we'd like to give props to one of the edible blank slates of the food world. They're small, thin, flat, and perfect for everything from appetizers to desserts. Call them shape-shifters, call them chameleons... just don't call them boring. We salute you, WONTON WRAPPERS!

Today’s MVP

Wonton Wrappers 3 wrappers, average: 57 calories, 0g total fat (0g sat fat), 105mg sodium, 11.5g carbs, 0.5g fiber, 0.5g sugars, 1.5g protein — SmartPoints® value 2*

These skinny square sheets are made of flour, cornstarch, water, and (sometimes) eggs. You can easily stuff them with your filling of choice, and then seal with a dab of water. We also like to bake them into crunchy cups in a muffin pan! Look for them in the refrigerated section of the supermarket where the tofu is stocked. They come in packs of 50+, but we’ve got hacks to help you make the most of them…

Storage 101

In the Fridge: Once opened, simply seal them in an airtight bag or container. They’ll stay fresh in the fridge for about a week.

In the Freezer: To freeze them, sprinkle a tiny bit of flour or cornstarch over each sheet and spread it out with your finger. Then restack and place in an airtight bag or container. The flour/cornstarch will make them easy to separate once thawed. Freezing just a few? Lay a small piece of wax paper between each sheet before freezing!

Wonton Cup Creations

Making crunchy baked wonton shells is as simple as baking them in a sprayed muffin pan at 350ºF until lightly browned, about 8 minutes. Give them a spritz of nonstick spray before baking for extra crispiness. Ready for recipes?

Air Fryer Phenomenons

Another way to crisp up your wonton goodies is with an air fryer. If you don’t already own an air fryer, get one for a great deal on Amazon!
